Smythe House Luxury Rooms — Hotel in Town of Saugerties

We arrived at the so called beautiful Victorian home at 6PM hoping to spend the evening outside and quickly realized owner Justine had misrepresented her property on her website. We were supposed to be "nestled" between the Hudson River and the Esopus Creek with scenic views and wildlife sightings. The back yard was enclosed with overgrown weeds/wildflowers, broken decking and a clear view of the owners personal residence filled with clutter. Bugs were biting us which would explain the unattractive screen tent. David provided his tour but had a constant cough which made us wonder if any Covid precautions had been established. That is why we left without entering the house. We had paid far in advance because there was no credit card merchant (red flag that I missed) Justine became frantic, rude, sent multiple texts and videos and called us uncivilized. Clearly not a hospitality expert, and there was no explanation for gourmet food pictures on the website of food that...

This was my first time staying here and this was my girlfriend's first experience at a bed and breakfast. I planned a surprise getaway and after much research I settled on this B&B. I definitely made the right choice. I have stayed at a few B&B's both in the U.S and internationally and I have to say this was the best one yet. The facilities were immaculate and the caretakers treated you like part of the family. I had corresponded with the owners for about 2-3 weeks before my arrival to ensure everything was set up. They were able to accommodate all of my requests and did so in a pleasant manner. The owners are both chefs so the breakfast was fantastic. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time and this place will hold fond memories for both of us. They also have a location in Costa Rica that we plan to check out...

Our stay at the Smythe House was truly lovely. We stayed in the Forest room and the Nirvana room. The rooms were cozy, comfortable, clean, and adorable. The outdoor space was so relaxing and beautiful. The breakfast was absolutely incredible! My husband and I are vegan/vegetarian, which Justine and David were able to accommodate :) David cooked us such a delicious breakfast. My husband called it the best tofu dish he's ever had (it really was!). Everything about this B&B was so charming. A special thanks to Justine and David who were so warm and kind.
