Today we had brunch at Blackbarn restaurant. It was the most disappointing dining experiences we ever had. The Tavern at Diamond Mills aka now Blackbarn was our local go-to restaurant for good service and great food. That has all changed. Service was abysmal. The resturant was practically empty with a total of 5 tables filled yet we had to wait to be served, wait staff deplorable, more concerned with setting up tables then waiting on customers. No anticipation for customer needs. We had to make several requests for butter, syrup, pepper even coffee refills, with a 10 to 15 minutes wait before the requested items reached our table. 6 drinks ordered and arrived 2 at a time with long wait in between delivery. Food was not worth the over $365.00 bill. Meals were lukewarm, waffles dry and hard, pancakes cold, waghu steak not eatable. The highlight of afternoon was when we were informed that our bill could not be split between 3 credit cards, 2 cards was the limit. The Manager was unapologetic for poor service and food quality and her only response regarding the bill splitting policy was " that's the way it is". Her complacent attitude obviously reflects the mundane wait staff response to lack of good customer service. I guess the built in 20 % gratuity accounts for the deplorable service. Why try! Well this local family will not be returning to Blackbarn. There are too many good restaurants in the area who care about their customers and are Thankful for our patronage. GOOD...

Wanted this place to be good and it was a real let down. Unfortunately from the moment we walked in everything went down hill. The hostess, which was cold and unfriendly, informed us that the outside patio was closed for the evening due to bees. That really put a damper on things because we really wanted to sit outside (we didn't see not even one). Then when we were seated we were told the menu changed that same day and pretty much everything that originally caught my eye was not on the menu anymore ( fig pizza, steak, scallops w lemon risotto)(update your menu online). We then ordered a charcuterie which was mediocre at best, Ribs which were super dry and basically uneatable and raviolis that's were just ok. Shrugged it off and said it is what it is. I then asked if it was ok to get another glass of wine, close the check and go out on the patio to finish and was told of course as long as I didn't mind the bees. Within 5 mins of being outside the hostess came to tell us that we were not allowed to be outside and told us to finish up inside. I told her what our waitress had told us and she said "well its closed and you can't be out here". Funny thing is while having dinner inside I over heard her tell another table they could go outside if they wanted but there wasnt any service out there. So was it that she just wanted us out? Anyway what a horrible experience. I will never go back nor recommend this...

Went to the Tavern at Diamond Mills in Saugerties on New Years day for brunch. It was amazing. Lucky for us we parked in the wrong area and got to walk by the beautiful stoic view of the waterfall behind the building. The view is amazing, definitely a nice romantic spot. Now onto the Tavern itself, we had made reservations and were promptly seated. Our server a young lady named Giselle, I believe waited on us. Let me just say to the bosses or owner or whomever was in charge of hiring this you g lady, bravo to you. This woman was amazing at her job. She was friendly, attentive and had a genuine smile when dealing with us. It was such a pleasurable experience to have. Now onto the food, absolutely delicious. Kudos to the kitchen staff who prepared our meals. The way it was plated was perfect. Each scallop was placed on a ravioli, and the quiche was mouthwatering. Our wonderful waitress kept our bottomless mimosas from ever reaching the bottom, thank you young lady! The desert, according to my lady was delicious. So if you are in the Catskill area, specifically Saugerties, stop by the Tavern at Diamond Mills. Amazing place, amazing food, amazing staff all around and that view. Giving this place a Ric Flair Woooo and a thumbs 👍 up and 5 🌟 for the amazing expiration, will definitely go back when...

What a pleasure! My wife and I had just been married at the Saugerties courthouse, and were looking for a place to have a simple celebratory lunch with my new mother-in-law and another witness. We didn't know the area, but The Tavern was recommended. I can see why this must be a favored wedding destination - the ambience is bright, calm, and filled with history. Overlooking the river and waterfalls, we even had a spot to take some wedding pictures that far exceeded our expectations. When we sat down, I casually mentioned that we'd just been married, and the hostess immediately insisted that we enjoy a round of complimentary champagne. Considering how very reasonable the lunch prices are, we would have been happy to pay ourselves, but appreciated the welcoming gesture. Later, we were treated to free dessert as well - totally without prompting or expectation. The food was elegantly plated, and delicious - and for prices lower than you might expect at local diners. Thank-you to everyone who served us! We expected a casual lunch to match a quickie wedding, but the atmosphere and kind treatment transformed our simple wedding into a truly memorable occasion.

We stopped here just for drinks as we had already eaten, and because the place looked very cool. They have a large bar, a large open dining area, and a very large beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking Esopus Creek and a very large group of conjoined waterfalls. I had a Bloody Mary and the wife had a Vodka and grapefruit juice. Both drinks were presented beautifully, with several types of garnishes in the Bloody, including celery, olives, peppers, and a specially flavored salt on the rim - fantastic! The vodka & grapefruit included some fresh violets floating in the glass (edible) adding a dash of wonderful color and whimsy to the drink. Both drinks were skillfully crafted by our bartender "Hawaiian Brian", a refreshingly friendly and attentive server. The venue itself is a beautifully designed space, with killer views overlooking the river from the very large dining room and outdoor deck. This place would be wonderful for a wedding or other big event for up to about 100 people. The menu is widely varied, and fairly unusual. I am looking forward to having a meal here very soon!

We dined at Blackbarn in Saugerties, NY for the first time this summer. It was delightful. The waterfall views outdoor seating deck was lovely. It was part of a perfect day trip to a town we now will revisit often. The drinks were great. Food was delicious. Octopus with potatoes was our favorite. The bread was very nice also. The gnocchi was creamy & dreamy. There was a beautiful wedding happening at their attached venue and the entire grounds were kept to that high hosting standard. I would feel comfortable sending anyone there for a meal, to stay, or to host an event. If you haven’t been to the Diamond Mills property in a while, it’s time for a visit. I think you’ll be impressed as we were. I’d like to note, the bathrooms are exquisite too!
