This room was overpriced. We were upgraded to a better room with a cook top. The owner told us that previous guests complained when he upgraded them that there were no pots, pans, dishes or cutlery. Why upgrade someone to a room with a cook top then. Most of us don't travel with fry pans, etc. Wonder what the other room was like. ||The room was small, with no place for luggage, no place to hang any clothes, instant coffee, even though there was a keurig in the room. The room had been updated, mismatched cupboards and a hodge podge of wood colors for the headboard, dresser, etc. The tv needs to be mounted on the wall then you could view it from the bed and at least have some space on the dresser top for a suitcase. My husband went out to the parking lot to put the tag on the car (so we wouldn't be towed) while I was changing clothes and came back in and reversed the blinds because you could see in the room. There were no curtains so as soon as the sun was up it was shining in our eyes. The owner wanted me to take pictures of my drivers license and credit card with my phone and send it to him when I called to make the reservation. Kinda weird, I'm driving on the highway and I'm supposed to stop for this. Looking back we should have just stopped in verona at one of the casino hotels or gone on to Syracuse. In reading the reviews I too am wondering about the reviews posted April-July 2014. No one likes to feel gouged and that is exactly...
Read moreWe stayed here with another couple for 2 nights. We had to PREPAY upon reservation and by the time the rate was converted to Canadian dollars, the rate was $200 PER NIGHT. For this rate, we expect service and accommodations equal to the Marriott. We waited for an hour and a half for Carl to arrive to discuss the rooms, which were dismal. We couldn't get another hotel as we had already PAID for the rooms, and we had no cellphone that worked in the US to try another hotel. As others have said, although there is a 'kitchen' there is nothing to go with it, not even cutlery. This may work for the folks that live in this motel, but for not for weekenders. We had no idea there would be no maid service, so we didn't know to ask for it, not that the beds would have been made anyway. No phone in the room, so if you don't have a cell phone that works in the US, don't have an emergency, since there is no one around and no way to call. ||||This is the first 'poor' review I have ever written and I feel badly as Carl is a nice fellow, and changed both our rooms to try to accommodate us, but the rates are ridiculous for this motel. And you shouldn't have to prepay, which maybe...
Read moreThe Oneida lake Inn was in a great location....easy to walk anywhere...That was the plus...also the owner Carl was very good natured and made us feel welcome....However this hotel is everyday home for many people that LIVE there...year round and I think they are not use to week-end visitors because they have NO house cleaning staff....we had to ask for toilet paper and towels...there is no one in the office you have to call the owner on his cell phone!!! We paid ALOT of money for an all girls week-end and I have never made reservations in this way before...never had to be our own house keeper and found out later that he had several other rentals and they were cleaned!!! When I say we paid alot of money...we did especially compared to the $140 a week the people that lived there paid....Was very disappointed but we made the...
