Today is our last day at Slyvan Beach and I have been eye balling this place all week. With our prearranged schedule with my mother in law, it's been hard to get in for breakfast. Well, today's the day.
I looked on Google to see what time they opened. It said they open at 8:30 on Tuesdays. That's wrong, they open at 7:30 like every other day. So, we totally could have went there earlier but 8:30 was still great for us.
This venue is absolutely cute! I love all the tables for outside dining in the front. It was a little muggy out this morning so we opted to sit inside. Walking inside, I love how charming this place is! I can tell this used to be a bar in it's previous life. The way they remodeled it to change it to what it is now is just beautiful! I love the breakfast bar area. I really wanted to sit there but my daughter wanted a booth.
Adeline greeted us with her beautiful smile after we sat. She got drinks started while we looked over the menu. The menu is quite broad and they have a little of everything.
For breakfast I ordered the rise and shine. Your traditional breakfast of eggs, toast, home fries and toast. My daughter got the crab cakes and eggs. While we waited for breakfast, we enjoyed coffee and orange juice. The coffee wasn't the hottest but it was still good with the vanilla creamer.
Breakfast came out on huge plates. Everything looked so good, especially the home fries. I'm a sucker for potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny in the middle, the toast was buttery, the home fries had a nice light char on them and soft in the middle. I did get a side of sausage gravy for my home fries but it didn't tickle my fancy, The potatoes were good without it. I did get to try some of my daughter's crab cake. It was very tasty! I initially was going to get the crab cakes but I got a couple bites of my daughter's so win win on having a little of everything.
I also got a ham breakfast melt to go for my husband. It was so good I went back and ordered another one for my sons. Both sammys were demolished.
I think it's a must go come to the Pancake House while you're visiting Slyvan Beach. The venue is darling. The staff is super sweet. And they push out good food! You can't get any better than that. I look forward to eating here the next time we...
Read moreOk, it’s hard to find a restaurant that you enjoy so much while on vacation that you want to eat there every day, but Pancake House is one of those places! We found it while on a girls weekend earlier in the spring. We could literally walk across the street from our Air B&B to eat, which is what we did for three days. You can eat inside or out (we did both), which is a nice option for people dining with young children. The restaurant is small and gets crowded early, but don’t let that deter you because it’s worth the wait. You’ll be greeted warmly by the loveliest group of servers. Each and every one of them greets you with a smile and greeting, even on the busiest days. Sit back and soak up the small town atmosphere while you wait for your meal. Breakfast and lunch are served all day, but sadly they’re only open until 2. The food is fresh and delicious! There are a decent selection of gluten free options and being able to have gluten free toast is a nice change for my husband. They even serve cocktails if you choose to start your vacation right! My favorite though, was our waitress remembered me by name from our vacation 2 months ago! You can’t buy that kind of hospitality, especially these days. Make sure to put Pancake House at your list for dining choices while...
Read moreI was passing through Sylvan Beach today with my dog, and thus was unable to enter a restaurant with said dog, so I called around to try to find a place that offered takeout. Upon calling this establishment and asking if takeout was being offered today, I heard the cackle of a banshee in the background who could be heard yelling "No we're not doing takeout today!" This must have been the supervisor banshee. The other banshee who answered the phone also let out a laugh directly into my exposed eardrum, causing my ear much pain and discomfort, saying "No we're not offering it today!"
Now, it was Father's Day and Juneteenth on this day. Nonetheless, most other restaurants are still offering takeout. So I'm not quite sure why my question was met with the loudest and most obnoxious laughter possible, rather than a polite reply like "Sorry, we're not offering takeout due to the holiday." If this is how management lets a customer know they don't serve takeout on a certain day, it makes me wonder how management operates in other aspects, such as the handling of food. "Hey boss, can we serve them these pre-cooked pancakes from 2 days ago?" LOUD CACKLE CAUSING THE WHOLE KITCHEN TO RUMBLE ---...
