I’ve been coming to The Blend at the Beach a few times each summer since they opened. The location is great and I really want to love this spot, but there are a few things that could use improvement.
The smoothies are fine, but tend to be a bit bland. I’d love to see more protein-packed or nutrient-dense options on the menu (think there's two with protein and one has too much cinnamon for my taste). My daughter loves the energy bites, but it's always a toss-up if they’ve made them that day. They’re a staple item on the menu and it’s disappointing how often they’re unavailable. And we've come first thing in the morning, so it's not that they ran out, but that they just didn't have them.
The staff experience has also been inconsistent. Occasionally someone is warm and helpful, but more often I feel like a bit of a bother when standing at the window. I’ve often waited there, unsure if anyone even saw me, and when the window finally opens, I get the sense I’ve interrupted their conversation and I get a half-hearted "Can I help you?"
I understand the need to keep the windows closed for the AC, but it feels a bit like the employees shut the customers out.
Wait times can be long, which is understandable for a seasonal spot. Still, standing in full sun with a small child is tough when all the shaded tables are taken. The umbrellas help a bit, but more shade or sun tents would make a huge difference in the overall experience.
The space in front of the window is also a platform, which isn't ideal if you have a stroller, because then you're basically walking away from your kid to order (unless you hike it up onto the platform). I can only imagine the experience for someone in a wheelchair.
I’ll be honest — I really miss the coffee shop that was here before. It had a different kind of vibe and service. I’ve been hoping The Blend would grow into a new favorite, but after a few seasons, it still feels like there’s room for improvement.
I appreciate what this place is trying to do and I hope it continues to grow. With some attention to consistency and customer experience, this could become a true community favorite.
