We had a hard time finding a decently priced hotel during the weekend of peak foliage and almost-summer weather in October. The prices were outrageous and availability low. Beds on Clouds was the only reasonably priced place, but it had no recent reviews and many old reviews were pretty negative. We decided to take a chance on it and SO glad we did! What a charming little guest house decorated in a Victorian style. ||We stayed in the Sunrise room and it was simply lovely: clean, cozy, with a comfortable bed and many antique decor pieces that made it feel like we were staying at grandma’s house. In the morning it gets filled with sunshine, which gave it its name. I stay at chain hotels for work, so when I go on vacation, I crave the old-fashion, home-like feeling that only B&Bs provide. This one definitely satisfied the craving, we felt right at home! ||There’s no breakfast but the management is upfront about it. Per the recommendation from a local, we had the best breakfast at Albergos which is 5 minutes away. Contactless check-in was easy, we were sent clear instructions a day prior. The manager Laureen was quick to reply to all my texts. There’s lots of parking on Main Street and several restaurants within walking distance. We will absolutely stay there again. Also, what...
Read moreThis is a very special place. This is exactly in downtown Windham. The house is very cozy. Our bedroom had 1 king size bed and two twin beds, tv and private bathroom, perfect for a family. There are some little issues that makes you have breakfast outside Beds on Clouds, in any of the restaurants around the area (which are very good!). The owner Rebeca is a very sweet and nice lady; she is not intentionally rude (as I read in some reviews); she is a survivor of the 2nd World War and that is the way she speaks, but if you are patient, you will see how beautiful lady she is. Definitely I would be back with Rebeca. Just consider that it is not a commercial place; it is a little (or much more bigger than little) country house in a town in the middle of nowhere (ski center) with a nice lady as the owner, whose steps are slower than yours and needs a little more time than you and everything is much more slower than in the city. Staying here and knowing Rebeca surely is one of the most beautiful...
Read moreThere is a gallery attached to this bed and breakfast owned by the owners of the bed and breakfast. There was a sign on the door that said open and the door was unlocked so we entered. We were greeted by a dog which was the most pleasant part of our visit. Shortly after a women came downstairs yelling incomprehensibly. She continued to yell at us to not touch her stuff and asked if we were buying anything. When we said that we were browsing she went on a rant about how people always browse and never buy (but how can you buy art without browsing?). After complaining about us coming in we asked if we should leave to which she started pushing us toward the door. As we were being pushed out the door she let the kind dog outside and it began to run away (I would too), then she blamed us for letting the dog out, swearing at us as we tried to help her get the dog back. I didn't stay at the bed and breakfast but after that interaction I would never...
