Cons: First thing we noticed when stepping into our room was an odor in the air. Upon turning on the faucet, we got a stronger smell. Not sure if the smell is sewage or mineral in the water. Nevertheless, it's an unpleasant smell and lingers. The smell isn't specific to our room because we filled a cup with tap water from breakfast community sink, and the smell was still there. The smell is so strong, we ended up driving to a nearby CVS and buying a crate of water bottles. P.S, we dreaded taking a shower because we felt we would come out smelling worse then when we went in. The rooms are not sound proof at all. When inside the room, you can easily hear people's conversation from the hallway. Every time the front main door of the building opens from people coming in or people leaving, there's a chime that goes off. It's decently loud. Unfortunately, our room was situated right above the main entrance. So when trying to sleep at night, if someone opens the door, the chime will wake you up. The chime doesn't turn off, even at midnight. Similarly, if other people wake up early, say 6am, the chime will go off and wake you up. You can also hear people slamming car doors, which can wake you up. Our room was also right next to the main stairwell. You can often hear people stomping and dragging their feet going up the steps, which can also wake you up. There was construction going on during the time of our stay, and they would begin construction around 8-9am. If you like to sleep in, you'll be woken up early. There is sawing, drilling and hammering sounds from construction. The public pool was under maintenance so it was closed. The shower water pressure is extremely powerful, and the shower curtain is very short. This caused water to splash everywhere outside of the bathtub. Additionally, the water pressure is so strong, the water stings a bit...
Read moreWe spent last Friday to Saturday at this place. The place itself is nice, but its shining ages are definitely over. The COMPLIMENTARY breakfast is very average (but hey, it’s included in the price). The location is nice and did the trick for us.
The water has a distinct smell of sulfur due to locally sourced water from a well, which is definitely a surprise and not mentioned up front. The water pressure was so low that filling the bathtub would have taken an hour or more, making the (very old) jacuzzi in the room useless.
When booking, the hotel sends out a list of a couple of “don’ts,” which makes the experience less welcoming, but it is understood that people try to get more than they’ve paid for.
I bumped this review down to two stars because in a previous review, the owner lied in the response (which was written by my GF) and accused us of not telling the truth.
This is sad. Although hotels in this area might be competing heavily during the off-season, this is still a total “no-go.”
We chose the hotel because of the jacuzzi and pool, but we came late due to traffic, so the pool was closed. We asked if we could use the pool after our morning plans (which would have been at 11 a.m. and checkout time) so we could still enjoy this experience.
Neither of those cases is covered in the booking, and it would have required some willingness from the owners. It is valid to say no - it just shows that the customers there are treated to the minimum the hotel provides, and there seems to be nothing more to expect from the owners.
Lying in a review to make a better stand and accusing the customer shows how the place operates - come, pay, don’t do this, don’t do that, and leave.
That said, the place is nice and usable, but the staff and owners are not interested in making it an enjoyable experience, which is what a hotel should provide for a...
Read moreBit of a mixed bag. The location was the best part but that's about it. Rooms were decent at best, mostly due to the smell of stale air (maybe from not cleaning out the air filter consistently) and the bathrooms were outdated. The pool was not open, which was disappointing seeing as it was advertised and it was an indoor pool. The gas firepit usage was watched like a hawk by the owner, and made us feel very uncomfortable (micromanaging). When we returned Saturday night, we were excited to sit by the fire, but when we went outside he had disconnected the propane tank and took it away. Even if it was out, there's no excuse to not have another tank ready, so once again amenities advertised fell short. It also felt as if the manager/owner was lurking around, micromanaging our stay especially in the common area. What was absolutely perturbing was the insane amount of video cameras (with audio!) found throughout the building. Multiple cameras in small rooms, cameras right next to the room balcony literally picking up on anything you say while on your own balcony. I felt like I was being watched by a nanny police state, which is the opposite of warm and welcoming. They also closed the indoor lobby area on the first floor at night because they refuse to lock up the incredibly precious packets of welches grape gummies. They should keep that open and add another fire pit on that balcony so different parties can sit around a fire without disturbing each other. I felt like I was in someones' cabin who was constantly watching and micromanaging my stay. With a competent manager, I would have...
