I am the hostess at Prominence and continue to be a loyal patron. My family and I ate there on 5/8. It was excellent.
The rest of this post is in response to a 1-star review by Magdelena Tyroll dated 5/11/2025...
Wow! There is so much to unpack here. I think it’s obvious from our typical reviews, and our loyal customer base, that Mrs. Tyroll's review is an outlier. However, as a loyal customer-turned-employee, I feel I must post a rebuttal here. Prominence Italian Restaurant and Steakhouse is one of the most popular restaurants in the area for good reason. We consistently offer exceptional food, friendly and attentive service, and have truly caring ownership and management. To quote one of our regular guests, “Don and Miguel epitomize hospitality!”
Let me begin with Mrs. Tyroll’s statement that our vegetables come out of a can. This is categorically untrue, and blatantly defamatory! Every vegetable in our restaurant is prepared fresh every day. If the taste was off to her, perhaps she was already becoming ill when she arrived.
She said she began vomiting minutes after returning to her hotel. According to the FDA, foodborne illness of this nature typically has an incubation period of 6-48 hours.
I had the chef prepare the exact same meal for me immediately after her call, and I ate every morsel with no ill effects. So, again, if she began vomiting only minutes after eating and drinking at our restaurant, I don’t believe it was from our fish. We served hundreds of people this weekend without any other incident.
The idea of our manager, Miguel, being anything but kind and compassionate is laughable. His reputation in our community is impeccable, and he is adored by our guests and our staff. Furthermore, I was standing right next to him when he was trying to talk to Mrs. Tyroll, and I can attest to the fact that she wouldn't let him finish his point. He had already offered to refund their money, and was simply trying weigh every possible cause of her illness because, frankly, we were stunned. I called them back at Miguel’s request to reiterate his offer to compensate them for their meal. I did NOT call to “apologize for his bad behavior”. I asked if they would please accept Miguel’s offer and assure them that he had the best intentions. They said they didn't want their money back. I don't know what else we could have...
Read moreProminence restaurant Windham N.Y. I decided to try this place on recommendation from friend. The porcini linguine was a huge disaster, very starchy from the first bite, no seasoning, extremely oily.simple spaghetti and meatballs were dried no sauce, pasta was starchy . I complained to wait staff .The grilled pork chop was ordered medium well(internal temp 155-160), we sent back to kitchen 4 times it kept returning rare, first of all why does it take 4 try to grill meat? the last time I received, the cook sliced the meat and returned back to table. That is unacceptable, now a simple pasta dish garlic and oil with shrimp had no taste, this time my wife asked to speak to the cook/ manager she told the cook the pasta was extremely bland the cook explained they don't cook with salt because customers complain, he took my dish back to add seasoning, first of all if you don't boil pasta in salted water from the beginning of cooking process there no way to correct ,so the pasta returns to me still no salt or pepper ( simple ingredients) he used chili pepper to add seasoning, first of all it was chili pepper, the pasta was still bland with chili pepper layer because it wasn't cooked from the beginning with salted water etc now you learn this simple method in culinary school. Extremely disappointed with the food and service, the cook never came back to find out if everything was okay. This is poor business especially for Windham,I had to also get my replacement fork and knife which was on a back table behind me because wait staff was careless and didn't pay attention to detail etc I'm flabbergasted, tonight wasted 180$ on meal that was inedible, tonight was a total miss. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants that take pride in their product and care about their customers. I'm not sure why this restaurant chooses to show this light. Per a.d.a. service dogs are allowed, your host was advised, tips are discretionary based on service. Your wait staff did not exhibit grace or...
Read moreThis is a place that is perfect for the locals, but not for people who have experience eating in other food cities or internationally. My first issue is that it is not easily accessible for a handicapped person. My mother relies on a rolling walker. The parking lot is gravel and rocks, there is no handicapped parking. On top of that, upon leaving, someone parked right in front blocking access to the parking lot, so she had to walk much further over the gravel to get to where my dad picked her up. For myself, the decor and layout of the restaurant doesn't identify with steakhouse or Italian restaurant, but that is just my opinion. Start with the ordering...the 2 items I wanted (Grilled Calamari, and Vegetable Antipasto) were not available. We ordered Fried Calamari. Again, personal preference...it was hoping for more flavor and crispy, but it fell flat. The marinara didn't enhance it either. I shared the order of Chicken Parmesan with my wife. Huge plus...the servings are HUGE. However this was again a miss for me. I expect Chicken Parmesan to be a flavorful breaded and seasoned before being sautéed crispy. Then finished with light sauce and mozzarella. This was muddled, soggy, and smothered in sauce and cheese. I went to taste the side of penne pasta and it hit me immediately...the taste of rancid pasta that has been either old, or that wasn't cooled properly after cooking. I am in the industry and am well aware if this taste. I decided to inform the server, just to make them aware. My dad tried it and he agreed something was off, so it wasn't just me. I received no apology, no manager came out to address anything. Had they done so, I would have not even bothered writing this review. My wife ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Again fell flat. Coffee flavor was muddled and absolutely no alcohol detected. A huge letdown, and blown opportunity, to finish the meal. Again, locals seem to love this place and think the food is amazing. I personally didn't get...
