This place is pretty, but highly overrated. On the plus side, the rooms are new and the site is pretty; the woman who worked in the Tannery is nice. On the downside, the construction is cheap and the site is overly crowded with units. And, for the money, you don't get much of anything in the way of the room or amenities-- and there's no service to the rooms. (You have to get everything for yourself). The owners must be really cheapskates because even the basics are lacking. Here are a few criticisms: The rooms are actually much smaller than they appear on the website. If you pull out the fold-out couch, you can't open the cabinet with the refrigerator inside, for example. There is no table at all inside for having a cup of coffee or setting up a laptop-- pretty strange, for a suite. The place is lacking in BASIC furniture. No bistro table. No side tables for the couch or chair. Only one small bench and one luggage rack- no folding tray tables even. Only 3 hangers in the closet, for 2 people. Advertised as a "suite," which typically means a small kitchen. But there's a tiny, smaller-than-dorm sized fridge, no microwave, and no coffeemaker (not even a small Keurig). You are forced to eat out for every meal! There's a tub but there was no shampoo, body wash, or creme rinse left near the tub-- only large containers literally bolted to the wall by the shower. Only 2 washcloths, 2 towels, and ONE hand towel left for 2 people for a 3-night stay-- we had to walk up the hill and retrieve everything ourselves, as there is no service to the rooms whatsoever. The internet was spotty and went out at least twice during our stay. No hot tub, no pool. But at least this was advertised. Next time, we'll try a...
Read moreThe Woodstock Way is a beautifully situated hotel off the main street however; it requires some serious attention due to the lack of lighting at night and many pot holes on the road leading into the hotel. The rooms are stunning, beds are ok - foam and quite clean. The low rating for us of the Hotel, was one night they had an entire blackout/power outage in the Hotel. All other streetlights and other areas of town had lighting. The Hotel has zero alternative lighting such as flashlights, emergency lighting indoors or outdoors and it is totally black as the rooms are located in the woods, no Hotel staff contacted us to provide any information as to when lighting would return and/or to ensure everyone was ok. When I say it was totally black - the only ambient light we had was from our cellphone which was thankfully charged or the moon. We did ask for compensation or even free coffee - no call was returned, nor email addressed. Long and short, we gather the locals are not too fond of the owner's of this particular Hotel - perhaps their lack of respect and concern for their guests confirms the town's residents. There are some allegedly some liability issues for the owner's of the Woodstock Way Hotel, in that Emergency Lighting is required in the State of New York for all hotels, not to mention possibly a back-up generator. Corners in our opinion have been cut at the expense and safety of guests, take a pass as there are other beautiful properties to choose from in this beautiful...
Read moreOur family stayed in the Croft, a 2 bed, 1.5 bathroom lodge on its own. The lodge is fine, nothing special but we expected more for the price. When they checked in at 8 pm after a long day of driving, there was no staff at the hotel to help check them in since they all leave at 5 pm (that was fine, we were warned of that ahead of time). But the A/C didn't work when they got to their room and no one picked up the two phone numbers we were told to call after 5 pm in case anything is wrong with your room when you check in and it was 90 degrees that day. So they slept in a hot room. Someone came around to check the A/C the next day and then it was stuck on 50 degrees for the duration of their stay which is FREEZING. Every time we called the front desk, they said they would send someone to check on it and no one ever did. There was also a light that came randomly came on in one of the bedroom closets and same thing - the front desk said they would send someone to check it out and never did so my aunt wasn't able to sleep at night with the light randomly coming on. We also discovered that daily housekeeping did not occur on a regular basis which is also surprising for the rate that they were charging a night ($800+ per night for the Croft). Needless to say, we do not recommend this hotel as we had many many...
