Read moreHubby and I seek out vegan resturants on our travels. We live in an area that has none. :( we have eaten at vegan resturants all along the east coast including (very frequently NYC - lots of yummy options) I have to say that The Garden Cafe in Woodstock is my personal favorite! We were golfing in the Catskills and found this Gem on google. It is always difficult to find a place that feels like you are going out to a nice dinner vs having protein bowls, smoothies, etc. This was a wonderful date with an amazing full service menu. I cant critique anything about our experience. The place is charming. We were able to eat outside which was enchanting. Every single staff we encountered was so very friendly. Shout out to our server Lee who was a doll and made great suggestions. The place was FULL which made my heart happy to see so many people eating vegan. However the food will bring me back. We live 2.5 hrs away and we will make the trip again i promise. You dont need to be vegan to love this resturant, you just have to love good food. We got the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, hubs got the lasagne, and i ordered the cauliflower steak as entrees, we had drinks and 2 desserts. Our bill came to 102.00. Very reasonable for the quality of the food and how much we ordered. Everything was delicious. The portions were generous (although we didnt take any food home because we ate it all!) The only problem is that the cauliflower steak blew mine away and i have been dreaming of how to replicate that in my kitchen. I see the website even posts recipes so im going to try!! Great...
Read moreLet me say first that I love that this place is fully vegan, and I've been here theee separate times. I've been fully vegan for almost five years so I also understand that plant- based meals cost more considering that produce tends to be expensive. However, I couldn't help leaving a review after my disappointing meal yet again today. My boyfriend and I ate lunch at the Garden Cafe and we're quite unimpressed with our meals. I got a 12 dollar burrito and he got the special, at 14-16$ dollars. When we got our food I honestly wanted to say, "when are you bringing out the rest?" His meal looked like something you'd serve up in prison or something. It looked like it had been thrown together in three minutes (despite waiting 30 minutes for our food) We opened his burrio and there was maybe two slices of cucumber and one carrot, with a side of beans and rice. It probably cost them five dollars to make, and I'm sorry but that is NOT enough food when you're charging 14-16$ Especially on a plant based diet where you have to eat a higher volume of food to fill up. My meal was less then impressive too, it was thrown onto a plate and was a very small burrito. When we got out check and saw it was almost fifty dollars I was just straight pissed off. The food was meh, the service wasn't great and they are making an obscene amount of money off just "ok" specials. My advice if you're looking to head here is to pick another place, not only were we disappointed but we also left hungry. We had to eat again after leaving. Save your money and...
