This place was truly a “meh” place to eat and there’s a far better flavored noodle place elsewhere.
First, the waitresses had no idea what was on the menu besides how to explain what the different types of noodles were. None of them cared to learn about the daily special, and none of them cared to remember what was on tap for beer. Both of them needed to go back and check the boards to see what was being served. This being said the wait service was just ok. Nothing special otherwise.
Others have said don’t get the Thai tea. Agreed. It was pretty bad. DON’T GET THE THAI TEA! The flavor was watered down and tasted unauthentic. Almost like it was made from powder. Ew.
My lady got the make your own noodle bowl with the coconut curry. This was the most blandly flavored noodle bowl I’ve ever tasted. Ever. If you’ve ever had a good coconut curry you know there’s lots of other delicious mixed flavors that coincide. This did not. Almost like the cook didn’t care to flavor the curry. Just literally made the coconut curry with just that.
Mine was just ok (pork/chicken broth) but I also attribute it to the additional pork meat I asked for in my bowl. Otherwise it probably would have been terrible. Also the ramen seemed almost like it was just bought from the super market and thrown into the bowl...like Top Ramen $1 noodle package type stuff...
The only one good thing was the mint tea. That was fresh mint with hot water. FRESH is the key word which you clearly could taste which was very good.
Honestly this place could be so much better if the wait staff cared to learn the menu and the cook knew what they were doing. If you truly want noodles please search somewhere else. I can’t account for their other food, but don’t want to go back and check...
Read moreI ordered the noodle bowl with tonkatsu, pork-chicken broth, and braised pork. It's a generous portion and comes with a boiled egg (hard-boiled, though possibly from carryover cooking) and assorted vegetables (I saw mushroom, carrot, cabbage, and broccoli in mine). I liked the braised pork, and I enjoyed the broth more over the course of the meal though I was overwhelmed at first. I wish there had been more detailed descriptions on the menu of what all the options were. The braised pork was pull-apart tender and had a crispy skin (though not really noticeable due to being in soup). However, the flavors were weaker than expected compared to other Asian food, and the only provided additional sauce was sriracha. I didn't see hoison sauce, salt, or pepper. Ramen shops don't provide these either, but compared to most ramen places I've been the flavor was more subtle, as if expecting the eater to adjust. However this was their most open-ended option, and it's possible their more chef-driven options taste stronger. Service was a little slow which was a small annoyance because of the cold outside. I'm taking into account that the place appeared reasonably busy but it didn't seem short-staffed by any means. The shop benefits from its location, which is right next to the main throughway in Woodstock. While we were eating, there was a drum circle in the nearby park, which was pleasant. However, it was also unseasonably cold for May. Since this is neither the fault nor the plan of the restaurant I'm giving them 4-stars because your seating options are either metal square mesh tables outside or long wooden picnic tables (family style) inside. Overall, a good...
Read moreYesterday, Marina and I, your friendly neighborhood Arcadian, embarked on a spiritual quest through the streets of Woodstock. Our mission? Unearthing the hidden gems that make this town so unique. Our journey led us to a haven unlike any other: Yum Yum Noodle Bar.
Now, let me tell you, the culinary delights we discovered there were enough to make Po, the legendary Kung Fu Panda, himself jealous. Each dish was a symphony of flavors, a harmonious blend of spices that sent our taste buds on a mystical adventure.
Seriously, the food was so good, I wouldn't be surprised if Po himself was a regular, chowing down on secret stashes of noodles between saving the Valley of Peace. Just a hunch, of course.
But the true magic of Yum Yum wasn't just the food (though let's be honest, it played a starring role). The atmosphere buzzed with a friendly energy, the kind that makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a hidden noodle haven frequented by enlightened beings (or maybe just hungry pandas).
So, if you're ever wandering the streets of Woodstock with an empty stomach and a yearning for culinary enlightenment, look no further than Yum Yum Noodle Bar. Just don't be surprised if you see a large, black and white figure slurping noodles in the corner – it might just be Po, taking a well-deserved break from his heroic duties. PS: Honey Soap -...
