This is a place with the best atmosphere I have ever stayed at. I might not have been to every country and city in the world but I do have a collection of a dozen countries in Europe and Asia to choose from.
If you are a rock-n-roll fan, free spirit or a nature lover you’d enjoy Woodstock immensely. To complete your experience of hippie town stay in Morning Glory!
This charming B&B located in a century plus old house is pure magic. It’s run by three generations of women, very artistic and interesting people. A lot of artwork in this house was created by the owner. She is a gifted painter who also plays musical instruments and you may get to hear her beautiful music, too!
Homemade breakfast is delicious. Crêpes, waffles, fruit and cottage cheese, good coffee, it’s all fresh and yummy. And the best part is the conversation with the owners, the glimpse into their lives and a life of this unique little town. For a person living a busy and stressful life in a city like New York, a stay here is a gift of serenity and harmony.
If you choose ‘Blue’ room, even though it’s a little pricier than the others, you get your own bathroom which is super convenient.
Location is great and even if you don’t have a vehicle you can easily walk to all the town’s shopping and restaurants.
I was deeply disturbed and disappointed by the horrible reviews some customers posted on Trip Advisor and other sources. I don’t know what goes through these people’s heads and what kind of expectations they had for a world-famous hippie town. Surgery room immaculateness? Wrong place, sorry.
It is not immaculate and there is some dust (very little of it though). There are cats and I did smell ‘cat smell’ myself. If you are a clean freak just pass on staying here. Maybe even pass on visiting Woodstock altogether. Go elsewhere. Just don’t write these hideous reviews destroying people’s businesses and...
Read moreThe tension of a funeral service in Binghamton and a tiring (though beautiful!) drive melted away when Pansy welcomed me. The artwork inside and out refreshed my soul. The bed and room were clean and comforting. I could see the picnic table out the window, poised by the brook, and fell asleep knowing I would find journaling at that spot in the morning refreshing. Stately maples and black oak were there for company. Pansy put the coffee on early for my benefit. First I noticed the jagged black rock with the crystal embedded in it catching fire from the early sun. Then Ta Ta Ta, Pansy's graceful cat, rubbed my leg and joined me on the opposite bench. A loudmouth blue jay perched on the feeder pole to announce his feelings about cats (not good!) and they glared at each other for a while. A tiny yellow butterfly lighted on the black oak sapling next to me. Light and shadow played on the footbridge in front of me. The brook sang a gentle song to my left. Birds chimed in, punctuated by the gentle, occasional whoosh of cars on Tinker Ave, the only reminder I was on the edge of a busy town waking up for another day of Woodstock. I enjoyed conversation at the table with artistic and creative housemates during breakfast. After more coffee, crêpes, homemade, with fresh fruit, and discussion of my date for a return visit, I was off home to DC, refreshed. Thank...
Read moreStaying at the Morning Glory B&B in Woodstock, NY feels like staying with a dear friend in her home. The house is beautiful, relaxed, low key, very comfortable with lots of character. Panxi (the owner) is warm, welcoming and accommodating. The Blue room is open and airy, with a full private bathroom. Breakfast was made fresh for me and was filling to get me started for my day of exploring Woodstock. Nearby is the gorgeous Overlook Mountain, Bearsville Theater, Bear Cafe and the serene Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Tibetan Buddhist monastery. Plenty of parking in front and in a small private lot. The grounds have lovely gardens, and a safe and cozy feeling. Before I left I already started planning my return trip and stay! Downtown is just a few minutes away. Right across the street there is a restaurant, the Upstate Films independent theater, and a small gift shop. If you’re missing your pet cat, she even has one you can visit with! Morning Glory B&B...
