Worst experiance! .The food and the service was terrible. When a waitress came to take our order, she completely ignored the child with us,walked away without taking an order for his drink. When they came back,we had to ask for milk for him,it never came,we had to go to the counter to ask for it. We had to ask a 2nd time for it,it came out with the meal. His peanut butter sandwich arrived with toasted bread, which was not on menu as toasted. he hated it, we asked for untoasted bread,it came with large chunky italian bread. Its not exactly a child friendly place. Additionally, the fresh fruit we asked for to go with his sandwich had what appeared.to be the white part of the watermelon..that tasteless inedible part right near the rind. It made me think they were so desperate for cash that they served, literally watermelon rind. Disgusting. My corned beef hash appeared to be very dry and visibly burnt and overheated in a microwave. Additionally, there was a pool of grease on the plate, possibly in an effort to add some moisture.it was truly disgusting. Dried crumpled clumps of corned beef with cold pieces of potato is not what corned beef hash is supposed to be.I tried it though, and I actually had to spit it into my napkin, completely inedible. The french toast i ordered came with fruit,i specificially asked for the fruit on the side, i cant have a lot of sugar. It came with cooked peaches on top as well as whipped cream, and the french toast was overcooked, a dark brown color, also tough to cut. The waitress said what she could do was throw it on the grill to "cook off" the peach taste. I declined, as it would still have the sugary mess on it and it was already over cooked. I had to ask twice for butter, 3 times for syrup.when she did bring butter, she brought a single pat of butter for the table.i tried a few bites, it was ruined, with melted whipped cream soaked into it and cooked sugary peaches, and it was overcooked. So i had a meal i literally couldnt eat.I asked 3 times for napkins at the table,we finally got up to go to the counter to get them. When we left,I went to a lovely little cafe called BREAD ALONE, down the street where they made me a freshly cooked ham,egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. It was delicious.my recommendation, save yourself money and aggravation, skip Oriole 9, just go right to...
Read moreLet’s start here - I AM A REAL PERSON, yup nothing fake. It would be easy and simple to say I was in Woodstock NY for three days and ate at the Oriole 9 twice, but hey it wouldn't be a real review. I'm not sure what is going on these days with some people who are eating out, but if you haven't noticed the pandemic has taken straight aim at restaurants - short staffed or staff having to pull double shifts so let’s cut some slack. Oh, and a reminder - yea Woodstock NY may be peace and love, but it is expensive everywhere you shop and eat. Now back to O9 service and food.
Everybody at Oriole 9 was nice. Friendly. Helpful. Accommodating. Funny. Professional. All this with a smile by the waitresses and bus-persons. The food is simply great, which fills the place with people - and, ready? People talk... yup there you have it. This place is always packed for a reason - fresh food perfectly prepared and/or cooked, with a splash of inventiveness, and plenty of options.
Entering around closing time, we were seated and waited on by Brook (two weeks and I still remember Brook). End of the day, double shift and she had the patience’s of an angel in getting us familiarize with the menu. Day one was freshly prepared salsa and guacamole, Classic Cheddar Burger lettuce tomato and onions, vegan-burger, fries, soy-milk latte and (I almost fainted!) Vietnamese Coffee - Forgetaboutit! The "guac" was a perfect blend of flavors - no over seasoning or too much lime/lemon. Both burgers were off the hook tasty, moist, and flavorful. the Fries were hot, lots of potato and a nice crust. The coffees were so delicious we ordered our seconds immediately.
Day two was great coffee (see above), fresh and plentiful lox's and bagel, and "real" (yup there's that word again) corned beef hash. I love hash and I am always looking for something different and Oriole 9 delivered. Corned beef was cubed, eggs cooked to order, onions tender and the spices spot on. For the most part the cubes melted in your mouth, but an occasional fatty piece made chewing tough, but overall, the taste was off the hook.
In planning for our next Woodstock NY trip, we will be heading immediately to Oriole 9, making sure it is a Friday Saturday or Sunday...
Read moreI've enjoyed breakfasting here for MANY years (was very sad though to see that my favorite sofrito on thick toast with choice of eggs was taken off the menu). Today, however, I realized the service really needed some tweaking. The staff is extremely cute and always upbeat, with some long time and experienced servers, however there are some others who don't quite get it. Today's minor issue: our $2 coffee refill arrived without its accompanying hot milk (the server should have remembered a repeat order ). When we realized it definitely wasn't coming and I couldn't get the attention of our server, standing in the kitchen and on her phone, my husband walked the empty creamer over. The bigger issue though was that the tortilla underneath my Huevos Rancheros was cold and I was reminded of several other times when I had previously experienced this. Today I mentioned it to our server who commiserated with me but I'm not exactly sure what she actually did with the information. It should have been immediately discussed with the manager, who in turn should have come to our table to acknowledge that is was an issue. To really earn a gold star, offering something like a free coffee refill - just SOMETHING showing they were trying to make things right - would go a long way. Oriole 9 is an informal and long time Woodstock place which I totally get, but good service and customer care are just as important as the food, and a paying customer should be...
