Overall my stay was good. The price was great and the room was gorgeous and modern! They also were very accommodating to my request for a blue themed room due to my sensory processing issues (warm tones like red, orange, and yellow can be overstimulating for me). My reason for giving 3 stars instead of 5 is because of how the staff (2 men) at check-in handled me staying with my service dog. I informed them I had her with me, and they first asked for her "registration card", which doesn't exist and it's also against the ADA to ask for papers, certifications, or "proof". I told them that service dogs don't have a registry and that service dog "ID cards" are from fake sites that I will not give money to and support the fake SD industry. Then they asked "what kind of service dog?" and I asked what they meant because it's also against the ADA to ask what your SD is for (only what tasks are they trained to perform) and I wasn't sure exactly what they meant, and then they changed the question to "what breed is it?" and I gave them a puzzled look and said "not that it matters because there are no breed restrictions on service dogs, but she's a german shepherd" and the man said "oh okay, well you can have her as long as you don't leave her in the room alone and she's not barking". I assured him she stays with me, she's fully trained, and never barks, and he said "okay, it's just german shepherds are known for barking, so if anyone complains, you'll have to leave". I told him I understand, and was able to finish checking in rather easily. As we were talking during the process, he even mentioned they've already had 2 lawsuits regarding service dogs. He didn't give specifics, so I'm not sure what those situations were, but I can imagine they were similar to mine or even worse - being denied a stay. He made a remark that I didn't put that I had a SD in my booking notes and I told him I stopped doing that because of the issues I've had like this and he even admitted that they usually refuse bookings that mention service dogs because of the issues fake ones have caused for them. I completely understand how many people try and fake SDs and I understand how frustrating it is, but it's still illegal to refuse one. Again, my stay (although only one night) and the room were great, and the 2 men I dealt with were very friendly, but it's exhausting dealing with people - especially ones that run businesses - that don't/won't educate themselves on important legal matters, even after going through 2 lawsuits on the subject! Even a 5 minute google search of the ADA could have given them the information they needed to handle this properly. Hopefully they'll see this and print out a copy of the ADA, have all employees read through it and understand SD and their...
Read moreThis hotel is somewhat rundown and directly next to a park that is occupied by a fairly large homeless population. The pool is small, unshaded and directly in the parking lot next to the park and homeless community, making it completely unusable. The manager of the hotel explained to us that many of the high ratings of the hotel come from people who he offered low rates to for longer stays, and then asked to write reviews as if they stayed for a shorter period. No one looking for a place to stay for a short period, and certainly not with children for safety reasons, should consider this hotel. The manager offered to reimburse us after we complained, but then stopped answering all emails and phone calls once we departed.
UPDATE: I appreciate the hotel's lengthy and thoughtful response, but it is in part deceptive and dishonest. We did not stay at the hotel overnight, we decided to leave after the manager gave us his word he would refund us for our reservation. No one from the hotel ever responded to our follow ups when we did not receive the refund. We are still waiting for the refund to come through. In addition, the manager became very agitated and angry when we mentioned the homeless community in the park, stating he would "pay 10,000 dollars" to anyone who was threatened by them while at the hotel. Instead of accepting this risk despite the generous offer of compensation, we decided not to stay...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay here. It is very close to campus, which is why we were in Tucson. It is on a busy street with a park next door but they have a large fence around the parking lot so anyone coming on property would have to go by the cameras and lights of front office. We saw no one who shouldn’t be there, so we felt safe leaving our car. They have EV charging if you need it.
Our room was clean and a good temperature. We got there several hours before checkin for a football game and they were in the process of installing a brand new big screen tv in our room. The owner was very friendly and we left all our bags in the room and headed to the game. He described this hotel as “his baby” and I believe it.
We got the room with 4 beds so it had an extra bedroom which has its own AC. Nice bathroom with modern fixtures, mini fridge, microwave, ironing board, coffee maker. Big screen tv in the main room. They blend in well so I missed them at first, but there are USB and outlet plugs in the middle nightstands. The beds and pillows were all comfy. They give you the login for the WiFi.
Nice little small business owned hotel very near campus and we would stay here again next...
