With all due respect, this place was not good at all. I’m a local and a chef as well and was very excited to try this place. When I entered the restaurant it seemed quiet and clean so I was all about it. The moment I walked up to the counter To order food, There was a lady paying for her food and the cashier/server Couldn’t come to an agreement with the customer about the Pricing on the food Refusing to give a discount or drop the price for a customer that had been going there 20 years so I overheard. The cashier then used the words “ Our restaurant isn’t doing so good right now so I have to charge you extra for the sauce” ???? Seriously??? Those are words that should never leave anybody’s mouth in the restaurant business. Nobody wants to hear your restaurant isn’t doing good, it tells me that the product in the back is it very fresh due to the fact you can’t afford to buy or properly stock It, it made me second-guess on ordering. But I really wanted to give them a shot, so I did. Now that’s where I should of just took off. So I began to order food and after telling the young lady I’ve never been there she totally spaced it and treated me like I knew the menu? Then before I order tells me salsa and chips cost extra because The restaurant is it doing so good. I was Somewhat speechless, So I asked for menu and tried to order a red chili tamale which they didn’t have “another red flag” So I ordered the beef enchilada and chicken enchilada with red sauce beans and rice. It took a little over a half an hour to get my food. So I was expecting it to be made properly and hot and ready to rock But this wasn’t the case. The food was somewhat hot but the inside of the enchilada seem cold but at this point that’s the least of my worries. The food was terrible, The enchilada sauce tasted sour as hell, the rice was mushy and crunchy at the same time witch was A Dreadful thing to have put in my mouth. Every thing was disgusting besides the beans! The beans were phenomenal but then again I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant where the beans were the star of the dish. It’s sad to say I trashed the meal and went to los betos witch was delicious compared to the Horrific experience and food I received here. It really sucks because I was super excited to eat at this place, my culinary heart was crushed and I was let down😢 as a consumer I will not be coming back to this place. As a chef I am very disgusted and disappointed with the cooks at this establishment and the way the front of house carries their selfs. Now I know why the restaurant is it doing so good. If I served food like that my restaurant wouldn’t be doing so good either and I wouldn’t have a job as a chef. Godspeed and good luck to this place, they...

It started with the struggle to find parking, which seemed impossible despite the restaurant being nearly empty. After circling the block a few times, we finally found a spot and walked in, only to be greeted by complete silence. There wasn't a single employee in sight. Confused, we made our way to the front and were handed menus with instructions to pick our seats. Already, things were off to a rough start.

We sat down and waited, and waited, and waited. Ten minutes passed before we were even given chips, salsa, and water. We thought things were finally starting to move, but no one came back to check on us. Another 30 minutes went by before a kind gentleman finally appeared to take our order. At this point, we were losing patience, but we hoped the food would make up for the long wait.

When the food finally arrived, it was my boyfriend’s order—mine was nowhere to be seen. We waited another 10 minutes, getting more and more impatient with every second. When we finally flagged the waiter down, he apologized, only to tell us that my meal had been given to another table. I was too defeated to be upset; I just wanted to leave.

The entire experience felt like complete chaos. It seemed like everyone was helping out, but no one was truly in charge of any table. The disorganization was palpable. To top it off, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was only one cook in the back, which might explain the delays. It was a heartbreaking disappointment from start to finish. I came in hungry and hopeful and left feeling utterly let down. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this...

My family and I chose this please because of all the stars. I’m not lie, MAYBE I will try this place again ONE DAY, but not anytime soon and it is very low chances.

We arrived and it was really busy, which is understandable for a restaurant on weekend and especially when it’s located on a strip, luckily they had a few openings on the patio. Which we actually had to seat ourselves! So far, the service wasn’t very friendly. Then we have a waiter bring us water, which was nice, but he doesn’t state his name nor provide a friendly greeting. He instantly goes, “Do you want to get anything else besides water?” when we ask what they have, he rudely replies, “Well it’s on the menu. I’ll come back later after you look at it.” Now, this is our first time here, so we never have seen the menu, and the least he could have done was show us WHERE on the menu the drinks were. 20 mins go by, and we had to stop the young lady waitress to get us our drinks! She was nice, apologized on the other waiters behalf, but then clearly states ‘I’m Not your waitress for the night.’ Which is okay, but I felt so upset that I had to ask someone else for mine and my family drinks! Then a different guy comes out to take our order (the manager I believe) and he is the one that ended up bringing our food. The food for most of my family was OKAY but my mother and I enjoyed their Vegitarian Options. I am only providing 2 stars because the food was decent, and the young waitress was nice. But the service is what docked them. Maybe it was bad timing, but Again, you won’t find me there...

(January 2021) This place is wonderful. Family owned for almost forty years.. my daughter played with the grandson of the owner while we enjoyed fry bread with honey for dessert. The meals were the real deal. Met one of the cooks who grew up in the restaurant. Lots of strength in this family and their lives. This is the kind of place we’d visit weekly if we lived here. Sense of community and social justice is felt here. We hope to make it part of our lives in Tucson in the future. (February 2021) Back to Tucson for a February trip and the food continues to speak to my heart. Had barbacoa last night - the tortillas, the chips, the salsa.. I thought about taking a salsa back on the plane - last time we took a quart home in a cooler and drove home. It is slow at times, but that's because its made well and with heart. You might wait ten m ore minutes at busy times, but your body will thank you. We'll be back. December 2022- still/ always so good. The salsa, the Tarascan taco, Indian taco..

Wow 1st time here, and will return for sure. Mind you we had 12 in our party, the were super friendly and were super accommodating. The sat us promptly and we had several servers and bussers as well as other staff help us. Fresh chips and salsa to start which were homemade. We were given carafe of water and soda for our group, as well as replenished throughout the meal. For food, must try Indian fry tacos, holy cow they were delicious, as well as the tacos, green chili, enchiladas. Everything was amazing, we did wait a little but great food is worth the wait. And it was definitely worth the wait, everything came out fresh and hot, which is rare for large parties. So if your in the downtown area they are located on stone between 6th and speedway. Well worth the trip. Small restaurant but big on flavors. Staff super nice, down home Mexican food. Outdoor seating, perfect for couples or families. Just like Nana made. Try it out Tucson....

I'm struggling to give 2 stars, but have to admit the Service Attendants were kind, and attentive. So that was the good part, now for the bad.....they were out of 3 main menu items, "carne seca" being one, Mexican Coke, (2 bottles left that we asked for prior to seating) and Modeli beer, (customers next to us asked for many beers they were out of). Furthermore, I had the shredded beef/cheese Chimichanga that was tasteless and my husband's Carne Asada was tougher than their knives could cut through. Honestly, we're out of towners, following Google ratings, (they had 4.5) and I couldn't understand why. We left leaving completely unsatisfied and stunned. I feel bad giving this review; because the staff was kind, but the foods were bland, and inventory low on many items. Luckily, I had a shot of their Mezcal, which kept me from leaving my opinion on Google, and not at the restaurant.
