I didn't even know places like this existed. At night, think a nightclub/art gallery for hippies.
I want to set the story for you to best give you an idea what this place is like and what it was like to be me there. I think if I was reading a review in that way, it would give me all I was looking for to make a decision about whether to check it out.
I'm an aquarius that almost always keeps to himself to maximize time to filmmake, and a very small, carefully selected group of individuals. I rarely go out to social events or places.
But this place felt so comfortable, laid back and authentic, and I ACTUALLY enjoyed all the music, which I have never experienced anywhere I've gone to like this before.
Picture a low-lit, dope art gallery that gives way to another, dark room with a performance stage where really talented people play their hearts out until a DJ with excellent taste in mostly EDM takes over.
There's two side rooms (or at least one! I never checked out the other) for more intimate interactions that feel homey, comfortable, and unassuming, INSTEAD of oppressive, and loaded with expectation in which you feel an ambient pressure to be a certain way in them.

The place is not modern, and is more like a warehouse, but it is interesting and you can meet the operators, artist, etc., and learn more about the art and music world from them.
Location: 31 East Toole Avenue, Tucson,...
Read moreARTISTS BEWARE: Submitted some paintings for an art show at Solar Culture one time, at the end of the art show you go and pick up any artworks that did not get purchased. They "lost" one of my paintings and the owner was very unprofessional about it and just brushed it off. I did not get any sort of compensation for my missing painting nor did they seem like it was urgent to try to find out where or who it went to.. I will not be supporting Solar Culture due to this. I hope other artists work is handled with more care and compassion...
