I stayed here because I couldn't get home from work due to flooded roads. I had nothing with me except the scrubs that I wore at work that day, and a sweatshirt. Tara, the desk clerk, was friendly and helpful. I explained that I lived only 5 miles away, but all roads were closed. She gave me a toothbrush and toothpaste. Most of the food in the snack area were expired. She said that they hadn't had a delivery in months. They also couldn't get their shipments of new sheets. I went to my room, which wasn't as clean as I would have expected. There was food on the desk lamp, and the carpet was in need of a good cleaning. I then returned to the desk to buy an energy bar and a bottle of water. Tara was unable to go home, so she had ordered food. She actually found one pizza place that was delivering! She told me to call quickly if I wanted something, so they could deliver my food with her order. I thought that was so nice of her. It was 7pm and I hadn't eaten since 7 a.m. Being a Residence Inn, the hotel had kitchenware, so I used a fork with dinner. However, there was no dish soap, only an old sponge that should have been thrown out after the last guest. I felt bad, but I just left it in the sink. Sometime around 11:30 p.m., the power went out in the hotel. It was eerily quiet and completely dark. No generator? I assumed that all hotels had backup power. I looked in the hallway, and I couldn't see across the hall. The emergency exit signs weren't illuminated on my floor! That was unacceptable. They should have the batteries check regularly by staff and the township. I didn't sleep well, knowing that I didn't know the way off of my floor. I felt stupid for not looking for the emergency exit when the power was on. I usually look for that in hotels, just in case. As soon as the sun came up, I packed up my sweatshirt and purse, and headed for the desk. The hallway was still dark, but light was pouring in through a window in the stairwell. I told the person at the desk about the exit signs. There was one about 15 feet from the desk that wasn't illuminated! He said they'd look into it. Sure. They had to force the powered door open for me, and I left. I'd never been so happy to leave a hotel. I realize the the power outage wasn't their fault, but they should have had a generator to at least keep some lights on in...
Read moreOn 3/24/2021 we prepaid a stay at the Courtyard Philadelphia Valley Collegeville. We made the reservation on the Marriott page to avoid any inconvenience. We were made aware that we could cancel our reservation for no charge before 11:59 PM local hotel time on Monday, April 5, 2021 (3 days before arrival). On Tue 4/6/2021 at 12:40 PM I received an e-mail from the General Manager at the Courtyard in Collegeville informing us that due to an inventory issue with their reservations system, they were not going to be able to accommodate our -already paid- reservation with them, and in consequence they had transferred our reservation for both Thursday and Friday to the Residence Inn in Collegeville -nothing was said about Saturday-. After a series of e-mails, we had to accept the change as we were travelling from Vail via Miami to attend the admitted students’ events in 2 colleges near Collegeville. Despite the fact this was an already paid stay, and that at the moment of making and paying the reservation the tariff of the Residence Inn was lower than the one of the Courtyard, we were charged as if we were staying at the Courtyard. On top of this, upon our arrival at the Residence Inn the room was hardly clean, which was very concerning given the COVID situation. The desk chair was cover in chocolate, the floor in the kitchen stained in red, the coffee maker dirty, the floor of the bathroom sticky and the worst part was the linens in the sofa bed: dirty and with what appeared to be soil and sand. The pillow smelly and with black spots. One hanger broken and on the floor. Since we found a note stating that due to COVID rooms would only be cleaned every 3 days (we only stayed for 3 nights), we asked in the front desk for someone to clean the shower floor -unfortunately it never happened-.
In addition to the above, there was not water upon arrival and until 7 pm. We had a dinner event and it was very inconvenient not to be able to use the restroom and shower during the afternoon.
We were told breakfast was included. I did not expect much due to COVID, but we found 2 baskets of frozen pastries on a table. We asked if that was breakfast and we were told it was better than what they provide in...
This hotel is the vibe!! My team and I were conducting a paranormal investigation at Pennhurst Asylum and needed a hotel to come back to at 3:30am. First of all, anyone who stays at hotels knows checkout times can your worst enemy, especially when the event you have runs late into the evening (or morning in our case), and this hotel has a 12pm checkout!!! We were able to actually sleep in! We chose a suite with 2 queen beds. The beds are super comfortable and we loved that it's separated from the living room/kitchen. It's so spacious and relaxing, which is perfect when you have a group or a family. You're not cramped together. There are outlets and charging docks everywhere which is perfect for any person or group with technology needs. We needed to make sure our equipment was charged and ready and the 3pm check-in time gave us the time to ensure we were good to go. Spirits like to drain batteries so we need to make sure we have plenty of charged backups! There's tv's in both rooms so your kids are not fighting over what to watch or you don't have to be interrupted if you are on different sleep schedules. COVID restrictions were in place therefore we couldn't enjoy the usual breakfast and pool, however, they have quick meals, food, and drinks options and the kitchen, fully stocked with dishes and utensils, allows you to bring your own food and cook it. Yes, on a real stove and oven. The outdoor area takes the cake! Ultra comfortable outdoor seating surrounding a firepit with ambient lighting is the place you want to spend time with your family, group, or alone. Personally, I could've slept out there. We could not use the pool due to COVID, however, we didn't need to The staff is amazing, friendly, and genuinely interested in getting to know their guests. I was truly disappointed that we were not spending more time in the area but this is the place we will be reserving the next time we investigate Pennhurst or are just visiting. Last remark. we usually keep spirits and demons at the places we investigate but just in the event weird occurrences begin to happen, we stayed in...
