Cabo Breeze - Mexican Grill & Tiki Bar — Restaurant in Venice

I’ve been waiting for this place to open for a while. When I found out they were open it took me a day before getting in there for dinner. I was a little surprised to see how busy they were considering they had just opened three days ago. However, parking was a “Cabo Breeze” despite the crowd. We were seated quickly and our server came within a minute or two to greet us and take our drink orders. Neither of us had cocktails, but their drink menu was huge. We ended up ordering the veggie fajitas and Carnitas dinner. This was some of the best Mexican food I have had anywhere , and I relocated from Chicago! Looking around at some of the other tables there are so many amazing looking items to try. Had 4 different tacos. Pastor, carnitas, birria, and lengua. All on flour tortillas. The pastor was very good. So was the lengua. Was disappointed I didn’t get any broth with the birria as it was on the dry side. Carnitas were just ok. Over all, happy with them. What I thought they can do better with was the salsa they give out with the tortillas. Very thin, watery. Also, their margaritas, not very good. I’m used to ready to use mixes, but these to me, tasted like roses lime juice and a sour mix. Maybe even crappy tequila. My wife said that hers was fine. I let her have mine, and I ordered a Paloma. Wait staff was friendly. Food service was quick and hot. Food itself was very well priced for a lunch menu ($10.99 for a hearty portion of fajitas, rice & beans). Sadly, the fajitas were burned and my husband's chicken burrito had a full sized shrimp in it. This was not a problem for us, but raises concerns about folks with shellfish allergies. On a good note: we brought it to waitresses attention & she immediately alerted the kitchen & came back to report that the kitchen and management were investigating how that could have happened.
