Brew-Za-Bagels — Restaurant in Venice

This restaurant really missed the mark, I say that because it's under the Brew-Burgers umbrella, we expected better & We were excited to try it out. We wanted a quick bite, so we got 2 single pepperoni slices. We requested 1 large coke. (Single bottles are only offered....what in the world ?) Super disappointed that our single slices were removed from a cold rack with a plastic shower curtain like apparatus to cover them. Pizza Rewarmed and crisped in oven. We ended up being a bit hungrier than we thought so we got 2 more slices We our second slices and sat an additional 20 minutes or so. We got up from the table to leave and the girl behind the counter says "I had to delete your payment because of (insert strange reason that made no sense...some paperwork thing in the register?). My husband asked why hes being asked 20 minutes later and why she didnt say anything to begin with. her reply "I dunno, its weird, I need your card" (seems a bit shady) by the time we walked out having 4 slices and a 20oz bottle of coke, I could have had 3x the pizza, free bread and 2 drinks at Lunas..... again, I expected better from a Brew Burgers restaurant. First time customer this evening for pizza at Brew-Za-Bagels on Venice Island in the Publix shopping center. I ordered half a dozen bagels with cream cheese to go too because I was so tempted. Since moving from New Jersey, I am always on that hunt for great pizza, great bagels & homemade cream cheese. Not necessarily all together in the same place, but that was a bonus for me.

After I got home, sat down and folded my slice in half, took a bite, I ended up eating two slices of Cheese pizza. Very tasty and satisfying. The cheese and seasoning were really good! My husband and daughter ate the special White cheesy sauce with onions pizza, Buffalo chicken pizza & the Cheese pizza. All three were fabulous. They were very happy too!

We haven't eaten the Garlic, Onion & Plain bagels yet but they look delicious and the Chive cream cheese looks yummy and there were many other flavors to choose from. Ordered 2 bagels ( Onion & Everything). It took the staff 10 minutes to fill the order. The staff seem not to be able to remember an order and walk back and forth from where the order display is located half way in back to where the bagels are in front of the store. After an order is filled they seem to need to talk to each other for a bit before moving onto the next ordrer. Several people were frustrated to be waiting for just bagel to go orders. Owners need to streamline the ordering process especially if your just getting bagels and cream cheese. As far as the bagels go they are nice and soft and fresh but they lack the crust and chew of a true NY style bagel. I'll go back again and hope for a better service experiance. Otherwise I'll endup making mine own at home like I've had to...
