We recently stayed at the Cobblestone Waynesboro for six nights. The experience was mixed.
On the plus side, it it a clean motel with friendly staff. The rooms are as advertised and in good shape. The breakfast, though long on carbohydrates (as most motel breakfasts are) also offered plenty of fresh fruit, eggs, and sausages.
On the negative side, there are a few things people should know or keep in mind when staying here:
There is no elevator. If you're on the second floor, you're going up and down steps. This may not be a big issue, but for elderly/infirm, or those with lots of heavy luggage, it may present a problem. You can request first floor accommodations, but you may not get them, or may not be able to switch to a similar room on the first floor if you're booked on the second.
Housekeeping was hit or miss. If you have a multi-day stay and want your room refreshed, you must request it every day. We found that even when we did, room refreshing was good on some things (e.g. linen, towels) and either poor or nonexistent for others (e.g. refreshing paper products, emptying trash). I don't think the room was vacuumed once during our stay.
The pool is closed for maintenance, but this seems to be a long-term condition - there was no work going on, and no indication of work, during our entire stay.
On the whole, it was a good stay, once we understood those constraints. We’ll probably stay here again if we’re in the area, but we’ll understand those...
Read moreNO ELEVATOR. If you weren’t able to carry your bags to the second floor by the stairs, either ask for a first floor room, or stay somewhere else.
We had an accessible room on the first floor and it was beautiful. It was clean. We had a nice view. The van was a little wonky, but we like to sleep close together anyway. It is located behind Walmart and away from the busyness of normal life, so it was very quiet.
If you need a good nights sleep, this is the place!
Service. There is barely any service here. When you go to the desk to check in on, you have to pick up the phone and wait for a person who is right behind the desk in a separate room with the door closed. They come out and check you in and then you’ll never see him again. Somebody prepares the breakfast, you never see them.
They have a limited selection of food and drinks in case you need a late night snack. They do have individual size, pizzas, and a pizza oven in which to cook it.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We went to Gettysburg and it was worth a 25 minute drive to stay in this clean and quiet hotel. It is fairly priced. It is not filled with kids from sports teams. The soap products...
Read moreA very disappointing stay. The pool and hot tub were in such an unclean state that they were unusable. You could smell the hot tub without even getting in, and it was not a chemical smell either. The mirrors in the room were visibly disgusting, you literally couldn't see in them, and then they tried to hand me the supplies to clean them myself. There was never a polite greeting from anyone. The staff would only speak to you if you spoke to them first and it was almost like you annoyed them by saying hi. They clearly have no maintenance schedule for checking smoke detector batteries because when ours began the low battery chirping during the middle of the night, they not only came up without a step ladder and with the wrong size batteries, but they had another detector with a low battery going off in the...
