Ever stayed in a haunted-looking mansion built on egg crates? 📍Weiss Mansion Bed & Breakfast – 800 W 4th St, Waterloo, IA 50702 Built in 1902 for Henry Weis—the local inventor who patented egg shipping crates—this place has serious history. It’s been apartments, a B&B, and even made the National Register of Historic Places. Today? It’s adults-only, super comfy, full of old-school charm, and packed with amenities. Not haunted—just affordable luxury in a mansion. I can’t wait to try the breakfast! ##IowaRoadTrip##UniqueStays##HistoricHotels##AdultsOnlyGetaway##WeissMansion##waterlooiowa##bedandbreakfast

I enjoyed my stay and my first time at a B&B. The host was very welcoming and accommodating. She provided a tasty breakfast, and she was friendly to talk to. I could tell that the couple who owns this B&B puts their hearts and souls into creating a great place for guests to stay. My room was clean and comfortable. The mansion was easy to find and get to. The neighborhood is not stellar (some interesting characters walking around), but I still felt safe staying here.

We really enjoyed staying at the Weis Mansion! The suite we were in was clean and comfortable. It was also decorated nicely. We had everything we needed and there was also a small kitchen area. The host was welcoming and friendly. She was also an amazing cook. Breakfast was awesome! Loved the woodwork and its historic appeal. We felt comfortable and at home.

... and Kelly & Chris who own and operate Weis Mansion clearly have the skills & passion to carry on the valued leisure lodging tradition. When my wife & I arrived for our stay, they were in costume while prepping to host a huge number of trick or treaters from the area that were attracted by the extensive outdoor Halloween display AND by targeted social media announcements. [The sweet treat handouts were accompanied by winterwear accessories for the benefit of the children from the local community.] Other examples of their creative hospitality business extensions are Murder Mysteries and Gaming events and Tea parties. All of those side hustles will help the proprietors continue to operate what is already a very attractive and comfortable B&B business in a beautiful historic building.||My wife & I stayed two nights (our first visit to Waterloo) in the 1st floor Victoria Chamber suite, with a king bed in a large comfortable living space and a small but functional ensuite with shower stall. The guest rooms & public spaces have beautiful original woodwork and period/period-correct furnishings, offering elegant but unstuffy surroundings for guests to enjoy & relax in. Kelly's freshly prepared breakfasts had variety and sufficient volume for a good start to our explorations around town. We were very impressed by the proprietors' friendliness & enthusiasm as well as the overall B&B operation, and we look forward to returning to Weis Mansion for another...

I had a wonderful time staying at the mansion. I was in town for a family reunion and on a whim booked in last minute and I am so glad I did. The house is so charming with beautiful details everywhere you look. Kelly and Chris are so kind and interesting. They chatted with me for awhile the morning I was checking out and gave me more details on the history of the house and their inspiration for owning and running this little gem of a Bed and Breakfast. Speaking of which, the breakfasts were so good. I stayed 2 nights and both breakfasts were really delicious. I liked the side of home made yogurt with fruit and the perfect sprinkle of granola on top. The room I stayed in was the Wellington Chamber and it's the one with the grand tub with jets. It was so luxurious! My room was so nice and I love that the house has so much character. It's an old house and well loved which adds to the charm. I wish I could have stayed for an entire week and in the future I just might! Staying in a hotel is always the same thing. If you're looking for an actual experience, please book this place immediately. Oh and for my fellow bookworms, Chris is a fantastic author. Be sure to pick up one of his books while...

The Schmitz family are very gracious hosts. I'm a travel nurse; I stayed here for 8 wks. From the day I booked my stay, to the day I left to go home, any question was answered and every need was addressed over & above my expectations. I've stayed in many Airbnb and other B&B Inn's; and this one is my favorite. I loved coming home from work in the morning & sitting on the front porch relaxing from a stressful night. There's always a wonderful breeze to be had on the porch. My suite was very quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. Having the kitchenette and sitting room made it much easier to cook for myself & relax. My husband & I were treated to amazing breakfasts when we joined them downstairs. Chris & Kelli are easy to talk to and made me feel at home. The location is central to everything I needed. This area has great sidewalks for walking. The church bells are beautiful if you happen to be outside to hear them. The museum down the street is awesome. Do take time to visit if you can; you...
