8/14/2025 We stayed at the Residence Inn in Westlake Village. Elisapeta checked us in and brought us fresh towels and supplies. Elisapeta is the best and her personality and customer service are stellar in every way. The hotel is clean and well appointed besides being conveniently located to local shops, restaurants, entertainment and other shopping venues. Always a great experience and with Elisapeta at the helm always treated like family. Highly recommended 👌

4/19/2025 Another amazing stay at the Residence Inn in Westlake. Akuti and John were welcoming and so kind during check-in. Being a Bonvouy Gold Elite card and member pays off with late checkout, free upgrades when available and many benefits including welcome points. We just love the Marriott hotel brands and when in Westlake this is our favorite. Lure Fish House and Cici's are right next door and the hotel is located close to many other restaurants, exhibits, shopping, hiking and so much more. The free breakfast, pool, spa, BBQs, gym, business center are just a few of the amazing amenities. Highly recommended 👌

Read moreIf you're looking for poor service on all levels then this is the place for you. I'm an elite Marriott rewards member and have never experienced such deplorable service and poor communication on all fronts. I had booked a 2 bedroom suite for this past weekend and upon check-in I was told my room wasn't ready. The gal at the front indicated that she would check in with housekeeping and put a rush on getting our room available and contact me. I had informed her that we would go grab a bite to eat nearby and come back afterwards.
When we arrived nearly 2 hours later, no room was still available. The other gentleman at the front desk stated that a room was free but housekeeping wasn't done yet and if we could wait another 15-20 minutes, housekeeping would do a walk through and ensure everything was satisfactory. Since we couldn't wait and had a reservation for horseback riding to take the family to, we indicated that we couldn't wait any longer and would try again once we were done. Upon our return, which is now after 5pm, I attempt to check in again and was told our room was still not ready. After much digging, we learned that our room was given away to another guest and was told to wait another 15-20 minutes before another room would be ready.
At no time was there ever a manager available for us to escalate our concerns to and were told a message would be left for Jared to call us back by the following morning.
Once we checked in to our room, we started to unpack and as the evening progressed, we noticed the room was quite warm. Attempts were made to adjust the thermostat and it didn't feel as if the room was cooling down. The thermostat read 78 degrees. We called housekeeping multiple times and 2x someone came to check in and the problem wasn't fixed.
The following morning we waited for the manager Jared to call us. No call. As we were heading out for lunch, we called in the front desk to speak to him since we haven't heard back. Jared was at lunch and unavailable. Upon checkout which is now nearly 2pm, Jared was still unavailable. The guy at the front counter apologized profusely and stated he will ensure that Jared follows up with us. I never ever got a call back from Jared. Only a generic email a day after we checked out for a partial refund that stated "Attached within the e-mail is the refund provided to your account" and that a discount was provided and if we had questions to call the hotel. Not a single apology whatsoever and it was the first contact received from Jared.
When we called to follow up on Tuesday, we spoke to another supervisor, Amanda who listed to our concerns and claimed that an additional credit would be processed to our account. Then Tuesday I received an email from Marriott with a statement charging my room for the full amount. I called to follow up on Wednesday and spoke to Lady and upon looking in the system, all she found was the initial credit that was put on my card and no notes anywhere regarding prior discussions with Amanda. Coincidentally, Amanda is not in on Wednesday and when I was transferred to the other manager on duty, I finally had an opportunity to speak to Jared. He was cold, rude and spoke sternly back to me when I expressed my frustration regarding the poor communication and experience all around. He basically told me that Amanda wasn't in, might be in on Thursday and that she would follow up directly.
This is a Residence Inn, not on the higher end of the Marriott locations, but the room was over $400 a night regardless. Despite being a loyal Marriott rewards member, the way in which we were treated was quite awful and an experience I will never forget and will be sure to share...
Read moreI travel 100% for work. I stayed here for 4 months. The key to a hotel is location for me. A hotel is a hotel room at this point to sleep, eat, shower. It's clean :-) Malibu beach is a short drive away ( I recommend Point Dume). Multiple places to hike nearby. Breakfast is decent for when it's needed, but long-term guests tire of the same thing. They need to change it up more since it is an extended stay. I mainly made my own breakfast.
For food: Lure Fish House is a walk across the parking lot. It is delish, but after 4 months of frequent visits, it got tiring. :-) Seabass, Mahi Mahi, chopped salad, grilled artichoke appetizer, guacamole are all very good. Gluten free dessert. :-) They have a hoppin' happy hour, so you either need to get there right before 5 pm or very shortly after or wait until after 7 pm. Baron'es pizza is good for when you want pizza and salad. Gluten-free option. Aroha- overpriced, ate there twice, limited options due to prices. Cici's, didn't eat there since I am gluten-free, but seemed popular. Down the street short drive or a walk- Los Agaves Mexican, I only had the fish tacos. But they are very good. This place is always packed. I suggest you go for "Linner" hours between lunch and dinner. There is Tifa for gelato. Other places: In and Out Burger which is popular and a few other places. In Agoura Hills: Hugos. Best french toast (which is gluten free and even if you aren't gluten free, it's amazing!) They also have a ginger margarita that is good. :-)
This area lacks local coffee shops, as I aim to find local places. There is a Dunkin Donuts down the street (yuck!), there is a Starbucks in the Target down the street. There is a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf not too far away which is near the Sprouts grocery and another taco place. But no local coffee shops to support. :-( Coffee at hotel is decent for when needed.
The area does not have much green space for walking. No park to walk to. There are many trails near the area. Some close such as China Flats, but many to drive to for hiking.
I am staying in the area for a few more months and decided to change hotels. I need a full kitchen and different food options if I don't want to cook (but need to cook more with a full kitchen, I need an oven!) and more walking space. Only burners at Residence Inn's ( just get your own pans if long-term). But overall good experience. Hotel does not always alert you when packages arrive, they say they will, but multiple times they did not alert me. If you get a poolside view it will be...
