I had the pleasure of dining at We Vino on its second opening day, accompanied by a friend. As we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess, who promptly seated us at a charming table adorned with elegant settings that immediately set a sophisticated tone. The restaurant exuded a chic yet edgy ambiance, with stunning decor that caught the eye and added to the overall experience.
Our enthusiastic server brought over the menus, and we were delighted to be visited by several staff members, including the general manager, who joined us for an engaging conversation that made us feel right at home. The welcoming atmosphere was further enhanced when we were greeted by the owner and the knowledgeable sommelier. It was clear from the start that this establishment was special, and I knew I would be returning.
My friend decided on the Branzino alla Livornese, a delightful dish brimming with fresh flavors, featuring succulent fish accompanied by vibrant cherry tomatoes, briny capers, savory Castelvetrano olives, a hint of spice from Calabrian chili, aromatic garlic, and a medley of sautéed vegetables. I opted for the Caloppine di Pollo Jidori Piccata, a heavenly dish served atop a bed of mixed greens, complemented by nutty Parmigiano Reggiano and a luscious lemon caper butter sauce that brought each element together beautifully. To pair with our meals, we savored a glass of the exquisite 2022 Far Niente Chardonnay and the crisp 2023 Jean-Marc Brocard—each sip enhancing the culinary journey.
For dessert, we faced the delightful dilemma of choosing between the two tempting options on the menu. We chose the Tira-Cotta di Chef Brik, a creative dessert featuring apricot panna cotta, silky coffee mascarpone espuma, rich chocolate coffee crémeux, and a delicate chocolate coffee sand that provided a perfect crunch. The Bomboloni, mini Italian doughnuts, were equally irresistible, filled with a luscious raspberry coulis, velvety chocolate Nutella ganache, and a dollop of fresh lemon ricotta cream. To finish off our meal, we indulged in rich cappuccinos that perfectly rounded out our lunch.
Our leisurely lunch stretched over two hours, allowing us to fully appreciate the ambiance and savor each dish. I can already envision the outdoor area being the ideal setting for festive gatherings, happy hours, or simply unwinding with a glass of wine while soaking in the moment. This restaurant truly is a gem and a wonderful addition to Westlake. With its classy atmosphere and exceptional offerings, it's an establishment that promises to only get better with time, much like...
