This was our first time staying here as locals not wanting to trek home after participating in a great cause. It was a spur of the moment decision, and one we are glad to have made because the whole experience was made all the more heartfelt by the top tier service, compassion, and comfort provided by Hampton Inn Wheeling. It didn’t feel like a hotel, it felt like you’re crashing at a friend’s house who makes sure the coffee is hot and fresh, the breakfast is delicious, your room is super clean, and you have the amenities that make your stay effortless. Coffee and tea on the ready in the lobby, no television distractions in the lobby, a beautiful fish tank, and it was one of the days that blueberry pancakes were being made by Jack, (general manager?)who warmly greeted and interacted with staff and guests alike, and not in some disingenuous way. All the staff we interacted with were genuinely kind, supportive to any needs, and were integral parts in creating an atmosphere that felt less like a random bunch of strangers just needing a place to sleep, and more like stated above, crashing at your friend’s house. We booked another stay before we even finished this one. ||A few things….||Full size toiletries ||Micro/Fridge in room||Warm and inviting guest rooms||Clean and well-appointed bathroom ||Supportive mattress so comfy to sleep on||A room to “live” in—nice office area!||Great window coverings—if you’ve dealt with traverse rods and hooks that didn’t fully close you know what I mean…||Perfect for brief/extended stays||Breakfast was so yummy and the lady in charge during our stay made us feel like family. ||A little snack/beverage/small necessities area||Just a Fabulous stay! Adding pics—excuse the crinkled pillow—started settling in before remembering to snap some photos. ||This is just a hotel to stay in if you got a reason or no reason at all. Just go. ||They are customer care professionals that set the bar pretty high and work to meet and exceed expectations…||and you know what? They do. ||Bravo to all who work at Hampton...
Read moreWhen we checked into our room, it looked like someone had shaved their beard in the sink. The tub also had hair in it. I went to the front desk to ask for another room since it obviously wasn’t clean. They told me they were sold out of queen beds but we could be moved to a king room with a pull out bed. They told us this would be at no charge to us (Uhhhh… why would we be charged to moved to a lesser room?). For 3 people, this is very much not ideal. We switched anyway and upon pulling out the couch bed, it was disgusting. Stained mattress, no sheets, no pillow and lots and lots of crumbs all over the mattress. I went back down to the desk to ask for sheets and a pillow. I was given 1 flat sheet? No fitted sheet and no pillow. I asked again and after waiting in the lobby (at 10pm) for 10 minutes, I finally got what I asked for. I made the pull out bed and while my daughter was looking for her ball that rolled under the bed, she found a chewed up and spit out peanut butter cup on the ground being hidden by the bed spread. I told the front desk and they came to “clean it up”. They vaccumed up part of it but left the wet nasty part. I gave up and we decided to just sleep there for the night since we were 2 hours from home. We were told how nice this hotel was by our usual place we stay that was full. They recommended it and since I’m a Hilton member and always stay Hilton, I booked it of course. This was probably the grossest hotel ran by people who are nice enough but lack customer service. I never heard a sorry or out any effort into making it better for us. We will never return to this hotel after what we saw and...
Read moreWe stayed here on a Friday night at the end of August while traveling from PA to OH for the holiday weekend. We booked ahead online through the Hilton app on our way there.
We arrived after 9pm and the check in process was easy and quick. I think I could have done this on the app but I’d rather check in with the staff. Steve and Valerie at the front desk were personable and kind. These two were great.
The room was clean and comfortable. It looked like they had done some somewhat recent updates to decor and furnishings. We had a quick breakfast before departing the next morning. They had fresh cut fruit which was nice in addition to the standard Hampton offerings. Check out was easy and the staff that morning were friendly and professional as well.
I saw signs that this is the best place to stay in West Virginia. I won’t dispute that because I can’t think of another place I stayed in WV that sticks out as being better.
We noticed an outside patio and indoor pool that opened up to the deck and that looked cool but we didn’t have time to check that out and plus we didn’t have swim clothes with us.
The location was convenient. We saw a couple restaurants that were nearby. The room rate was around what we have paid at other Hampton properties on holiday weekends.
We weren’t here very long but we had an enjoyable stay and a good...
