8-day stay during July 4th, 2022 long weekend & high season for summer travel: I would definitely stay here again; this is probably my 7th time over the last few years staying here.
I did not plan to stay at any hotel. I planned to stay at a friend‘s home but there was a terrible plumbing issue that affected the electricity issue and even my friend had to find somewhere else to stay. So at the last minute I was looking for a place to stay for eight consecutive days. I had some Airbnb options; however, since I had favorable experiences with Friendly Hills Inn in the past I thought maybe I would get lucky to find eight consecutive days where I could get to stay in the same room without having to move around.
The front desk staff was very helpful in assisting me to get what I wanted and they honored the military rate which I really appreciated. I do feel safe at this hotel, Friendly Hills Inn in Whittier, CA. It’s easy to get into and out of and the rooms themselves are very comfortable.
I like the different lighting options even though I do bring my own nightlight for the bathroom sink area. The air conditioner works very nicely and in a quiet manner. There’s a microwave, a medium-sized mini fridge as well as a small coffee maker. The hotel room is modern contemporary and there’s a variety of softer and harder pillows so depending on if you want to sit up in bed against the bed frame or lay down you have options. I like that the light switch to turn off the main lights and the lamp is right next to the bed.
Amenities about nearby including restaurants shopping etc. there are delicious made-from-scratch soups at the “California Grill Restaurant”, and I did enjoy Huevos a la Mexicana at “Mr. Giants”.
Discovered a great store called Upscale Collectibles on Greenleaf; a wonderful collection of gently used furniture, jewelry, books, clothing, shoes, dish ware, linens and more. Great people work there.
So I will definitely stay here again at Friendly Hills Inn in Whittier, CA. Again I had the option to stay at an Airbnb which I had booked just in case this hotel wasn’t available for eight consecutive days but having both options available, Friendly Hills Inn and the Airbnb, I decided to choose Friendly Hills Inn and that’s a win-win for both myself as well as the good people who run it. The owners are quite nice and professional. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you Friendly Hills Inn!...

Read moreIn August I moved from Rancho Cucamonga to transition for my new job as a full-time flight attendant. I had been staying at my brother's house in Whittier, but finally had the chance to stay near him at Friendly Hills Inn one week apart. I have stayed in many Hotels, Inns, Extended Stays, etc. and know what to look for. Even if a place is older with upgrades you can see the old and new together. My first experience with Friendly Hills was very decent. There are many new upgrades and renovations. Definitely has a luxury feel in many ways. The bed is super comfortable and the bathroom was sparkling new with shiny fixtures. The Tv was difficult to understand as far as the guide and how to get to the channels you want, but as long as I found Friends, The Office, Martin, and the Golden Girls (I watch these shows everywhere I stay), I am good. I was even more happy when I found Kalefornia Love, a vegan and health food place literally a 4 minute walk from the Inn across from Dunkin' Donuts. Whittier Blvd. has so many great places you can walk or drive to very quickly. A week later I checked in (both stays were on a Friday night after work), received the same room and was highly disappointed. The room was NOT clean at all, especially the bathroom. It smelled like pee. There was a little drizzle on the base of the toilet. The seat had a stain on it. The floor was not mopped. The sheets were not as crisp and had a couple hairs on it. Sometimes it is hard to say if they have been changed, but stiff sheets with folded lines are usually the most fresh. I WOULD recommend this place and like to stay here again since I am back in Whittier, but because of the lack of consistency, I would need to reiterate over the phone before checking in that the room NEEDS to be clean before I get there. Mind you I was checking in after work at nearly 10pm. I don't understand why that room was not already cleaned at some point earlier in the day. I did not see female cleaning staff, but male staff taking care of the laundry, trash, and room...
