In my 50 years I had never been treated with race-hatred due to my background not even in the state of South Carolina. After over 25 years in business and travel for business and pleasure around the world I had experience what I personally heard from others nationalities including my African American Clients.
I rented a two nights at this location hotel while visiting my Dominican family in Wilkes-Barre. I have a brain condition and needed to have some sleep. In the morning of my first night while taking a hot water therapy inside the bathtub I started to feel I was having a stroke. I contacted my husband who contacted my sister in law who nationality is from El Salvador. She came with her sleepers shoe and in her night gown clothes under medication since she called sick at work because she was dealing with a lot of pain in her shoulder and arm. I found out about her sedation later that day.
I told my sister before I go to the hospital let’s eat something really quick because when I get there they won’t allow me to eat until the doctors have finished with all the test.
While eating I notice the front desk white lady around her 65-68 year old was looking I my sister who I was helping use the waffle machine. I sat down feeling sick and dealing with chronic pain due to a lumbar fusion a year ago stopped eating due to my symptoms walked to the front desk to checkout and requested a receipt. Also, the symptoms have worsen I was confused in my head feeling disoriented unable to request an Uber taxi, so I asked Roz to please call me a taxi and she refused saying that she can’t. I told her that I was having symptoms of s stroke to please call me a taxicab or to let me use the phone that I would call it myself. She was so crazy busy trying to turn off the alarm and also caused me of calling 911. I told her to are more worry about turning off the alarm while I am telling you that I am having a stroke?
I persistently request to use the phone and she told me you could use that one and pointed to the left wall adjacent to the front desk countertop. I try to dial a taxi number that my sister-in-law gave me but I was could not dial the number myself. Again, I ask them to please call an ambulance and the old racist women replied if we call you the ambulance then the police is going to come and they are going charges you.
No one from the office provided me with Assitand. I was making a big scene that I am not proud of but I was so mad about they racist attitude there were three lady at the front desk Ms. Roz and two others ones who neglected to helped me. I spent 3 nights at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. I was so disappointed of how I was treated that I was not afraid, I was terrified to go to a hospital in Pennsylvania. I arrived to my hometown in Charleston, South Carolina. The lady who checked me in the night of 03/02/23 was Ksimon who was very kind and Polite. Ksimon even came up to y room I disinfected the bathtub so I was able to do a hot water therapy to cope with the pain level of 7.
I was checked out by Jortiz who wrote down the name of the other racist old lady. She just observed everything that was happening and never offer to help she was stepped out the office with a young African Americans who together they walked toward the elevator. I didn’t receive any help from the hotel. My niece have to come from work.
Those women have no compassion toward me and my family because we are Latino. My nice is an American from a Dominican father and her mother is from El Salvador . However, she is white with blonde straight hair who speaks perfectly the English language. They find not allow them to come to my room even though it was an emergency. I have never been in a hotel were my guess have been stopped at the front desk and have to wait at the lobby. When the racist old lady called the my room that Ksimon recommended me to leave the reservation under my husband name because I use his Choice Privilege Rewards my name was as a secondary guess and I paid the hotel room with my...
Read moreMy husband and I went about 40 minutes out of our way on our travels to stay there. We chose that hotel because they offered a hot tub. When we got there and checked in shortly after 10 at night, we were greeted in a friendly way. We went to our room and tried to fill the tub. We could not get the water to start so we called the front desk and they said they have to turn on the water at the desk. We then saw the sign hanging on the wall to call front desk to use tub. The person stated that they recently changed the hot water tank and we might have to run the water a bit to clear the pipes. We ran it for a while and then started to fill the tub. About half way through filling it we noticed the water was still not clear. So we drained the tub completely and started filling it again. We was still not clear, but thought we could still use the jets and relax. But then the jets would not start. We called the front desk again, they tried to talk us through it unsuccessfully and they sent someone to the room. the person came shortly after 11pm. He was polite, but still could not get it to work. He took the panel off the wall in the bathroom and said it was probably a short in the electrical. I asked if this is the same water that we would be showering in, in the morning. His reply was just run the water for a while. ☹ I asked if they cleared the lines after the tank was installed. He said yes, but the tank was only installed that afternoon. We didn’t feel that it should be our job to clear the pipes after their work. He tried to run it for a while too, but we finally asked him to forget it and wanted him to leave our room because it was already 11:30 pm. We asked for some compensation for our troubles and he said he would talk to the manager in the morning. This was the end a very long day for us and we looked forward to the tub.
In the morning, we went to check out and no mention was made of the whole situation until we asked. The clerk politely said that they changed to rate to the same rate for a room without a hot tub. I thought there would have been more compensation for all our troubles and time with the issue. But the one thing that I missed was none of the hotel staff ever said any apology for all our issues.
The rest of the room...
Read moreTwo stars is the highest I would go. 9 days, 8 hotel rooms and this was on the lower end of satisfaction for me. I book through 3rd party apps so I get the best deal, as I am a traveling wholesale rep, so I am aware you get what you pay for. The reviews that drove the rating up are personal opinions. Here is mine.
I booked a king room, was put in a handicap king on 1st floor. As soon as I walked in I was hit with a musty, stale smell. Since it was handicap, it had a roll in shower (had to put my toiletries on the shower floor), a space for hanging clothes at about my waist height (I am 5'11" and not in a wheelchair, so my clothes were quite bunched at the bottom.) Room temperature difficult to control. One curtain on the window that was rather ineffective. Breakfast very mediocre, even by quality Told at check in (approx 8pm) to "help myself to fresh coffee and fruit." The cold coffee and brown bananas were not much of a draw, but thanks though. Their business center was really the kicker though. Two desktop computers, next to a fake fire place, making the business center feel like you are in the center of the sun. Really great after you just showered. Computer 1 took about ten minutes to just LOAD google. Computer 2 was comparitvely advanced technology, as I was able to pull up google, log into email, download and print what I needed in just 15 minutes! Wow! Technology these days!
Perhaps you are wondering why I didn't request a room change. Two reasons: I only change rooms under extreme circumstances (dirty, very bad odor, etc.) 2nd because as I said in the beginning, you get what you pay for. So, I got a crappy room at a mediocre hotel for a great price for one night, and they get an honest review. Hopefully the hotel tonight is better, as I am still in the area but was NOT patronizing...
