Food very good as usual . Disappointed in manager Sue. She is super friendly and usually very helpful. We go here a lot so she welcomed us by name which is a nice experience. But while sitting waiting for dinner there was a customer sitting alone in the back of the restaurant talking on his phone with the speaker turned up so everyone could hear the conversation. Others looked back also but didn't seem to know what to do. It was terrible and my husband asked the wait staff behind the counter if she (Sue)could speak to him about lowering the volume so all involved could enjoy their meal out. She never went over to him, chose to ignore it. It only got worse from there. The person on his phone was swearing (f...) every other word. We and the other couple were uncomfortable, all any of us could do was look back at him. Then this customer began swearing loudly (f....) to whom he was speaking to. At this point I had to hold my husband back from getting up and confronting the man about the vulgarity and noise when finally from staring at him, he lowered the volume, then finally ended his call. And where was bubbly Sue? Sadly nowhere. And to add insult to injury, she completely ignored us afterwards when we were leaving. Walked toward me, right past me, then past my husband at the counter paying. This was the first time she showed herself. Generally she is always walking around checking on customers or having conversation with us! It's not up to the customer who has come to enjoy a relaxing meal to endure nor approach an inconsiderate guest. And Sue's surprising ignoring of us, was just sad and rude. We've spent good money dining at Perkins for decades . Since we've retired, we go a couple times a week. I believe we will instead make Cracker Barrel our...
Read moreI visited Perkins on a Tuesday evening around 6:30. The place was clean and had plenty of tables available, so we had our choice to sit anywhere.
Our server was pleasant and patient, as my mother made alterations to her cheeseburger. I had the Eggs Benedict and my girlfriend had a chicken salad sandwich with a strawberry salad.
I ordered a third Eggs Benedict, but the cook must have misunderstood, as I received an extra poached egg just plain. I did not request for the egg to be returned, as I was very hungry at the time and didn't care.
The two Eggs Benedict were atrocious. They were not poached as I requested, and the yokes were very hard. The ham was just a slab that covered 1¼ of the two muffins. In other words there was no separate slice of ham for each muffin.
The chicken salad sandwich was very bland, but the strawberry salad was delicious. The cheeseburger was good, and it came with a generous portion of French fries. The slice of coconut cream pie for dessert was a disappointment, as it had very coconut cream, and was left half-eaten.
Upon checking out, I was asked by a young woman operating the register about my meal. My complaint about the eggs was met with an indifferent, "sorry.'
Overall, the experience was such that I will not return. The fact that it was located next to two hotels yet was practically empty is very telling. The complacency of the staff (with the exception of our server) leads me to believe that there will be quite an attrition...
Read moreThis was never a frequent stop for me, I'm not much of a breakfast person. But I bent, and stopped at his insistence because I knew there were other options on the menu. Service was good, although I could tell the waitresses were bothered by something that happened before we arrived. I got a lunch special with half of a BLT, and a salad. Everything seemed fresh, but lacking flavor, especially the nondescript chicken I requested added to the salad. Also, imo, a 2oz portion cup of dressing is not enough for even a side salad...he described his eggs/sausage/hash browns as "pretty good"... My main concern here though was cleanliness, or lack thereof. The back of the bathroom stall doors looked like they hadn't been wiped down in a long time. There was a layer of dust and a few dead bugs along the windowsills. Handprints on the windows and entry doors. The cabinet that a POS terminal sits on is blackened on the door corners, indicating a lot of touching but no cleaning. The low pile carpeting through the dining section is horribly stained in high traffic areas. And the table/booth combos they use aren't permanently fixed to the floor, but they also aren't frequently moved for vacuuming. You can tell by the debris around the table bases... should I expect better or worse because it's a chain?...
