Dollar General — Local services in Wilkes-Barre Township

Unfortunately, this Dollar General was a mess! As soon as I walked in the store all I could see is clutter everywhere, boxes in the middle of the isles filled with product (this had to be some sort of code violation) and hardly any items were marked for xmas clearance- this was shocking to me since the day before I shopped at another DG location outside of Wilkesbarre and they had great deals on the same xmas items i found at this Wilkesbarre store (which weren't marked down and still ringing up full price) and they were neatly placed in a clearance section for an easy find unlike the Wilkesbarre store that had so many items in disarray. I grabbed a few things I knew for sure would be considered xmas items and asked to get a price check. Well to no ones surprise it was ringing up full price so I asked the cashier if I could have the item marked down correctly and she yelled over to the manager across the room and asked him to come over. She told him about the pricing and my request and before I knew it they were both offering me different prices as if it was an auction... i was at a loss for words, in complete shock...I was embarrassed. I decided not to take the item they were clearly overpricing. I don't think I will be stepping foot in this DG location EVER again... they need new management and I'd recommend better training in customer service... I would not recommend shopping at this particular location at all. Honestly doesnt even deserve the 1 star. Super...

All I wanted was a stick of deodorant. I ended up having to lift up a cover which set off an alarm. I get it, Old Spice Pure Sport at $4.77 is a high theft item. 🙄 This wasn't the end of it. They also did a big announcement across the store about shoplifting, it's consequences, and how I should return the item if I do not wish to purchase it. I told them I intended to purchase the deodorant and the cashier that was behind the counter said it's just random and that it wasn't meant for me. However, the other cashier coming from behind the counter blurted "...maybe it was?" and then chuckled. What kind of insensitive narcissists are you hiring nowadays? Nice employees here. They actually acknowledge you when you walk in and when you are leaving. They are always pleasant to me when I am there. Great selection of items and this is my favorite location. I’d rather go to this location in my area than any other one due to the employees here. Sometimes I think they need more employees though.
