I stayed here on two occasions. The first year the stay included lift tickets to haystack. It included a detailed email about the accommodations including where to park, and how to get into the room.
We decided to try it again this year because although it is expensive we thought that lift tickets could offset the cost. We were told that tickets weren't included this year, and we didn't even have the option to get lift tickets to haystack.
The second year we got here my wife said, "what did the email say?" There wasn't one the second year. So we called their main number and were told to go to a different Inn (the white house) to pick up the room keys. The polite lady gave me a packet and I had to ask about parking and the key code to get in (because I remember it being confusing the first year). She indicated that the email should have had instructions.
The rooms both years we stayed were nice. They are very small. The bathrooms have tiled and glass walk-in showers and all of the furniture is still pretty new. The bathrooms are freezing because the heat and the air conditioning come out of a unit mounted directly over the bed. This results in hot and cold swings all night. The window coverings aren't mounted in the window frames so from the bed (if given the first floor) you still get a straight view to the side walk even with the shades down. After a long day of skiing (NOT at haystack of course) you climb into a bed, that is very uncomfortable.
I felt like I'm missing something so I went back through the welcome packet. We could have driven 15 minutes north to the Hermitage inn which includes some tubing, and some hot tubs. It says we also could have gone to haystack to use the fitness center that is there. So if I want to work out I can walk to the public parking get in my car drive 10-15 minutes to haystack. Park my car in their satellite parking (because I'm not a member) then be shuttled to the lodge where I can see the mountain, I can't ski at, so that I can get a workout in At a fitness center...
All that said...
Wilmington is great. The restaurants are great and the people are great. If you want to stay in town and you ignore everything about the hermitage's confusing and changing policies and understand that check-in will be a little confusing, then this is a perfectly reasonable...
Read moreDuring my recent winter getaway to Vermont, I had the pleasure of staying at the charming inn nestled near the captivating Mount Snow and Okemo ski mountains. This picturesque accommodation left an indelible mark on my skiing adventure, thanks to its exceptional cleanliness and the owner's warm hospitality.
From the moment I stepped into the inn, the pristine cleanliness was immediately evident. The reception area was immaculate and exuded a cozy charm that instantly put me at ease. Throughout my stay, I noticed that each corner of the inn, from the corridors to the guest rooms, was meticulously maintained, providing an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity.
The inn's owner truly went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was exceptional. His genuine friendliness and thoughtful nature immediately made me feel welcomed upon arrival. From recommending the best local ski trails to sharing insights about the nearby attractions, the knowledge and enthusiasm gave a personal touch to my ski vacation.
The guest rooms themselves were a testament to comfort and relaxation. The attention to detail was evident in the well-appointed amenities, which contributed to a serene and comfortable experience throughout my stay.
The inn's location, within close proximity to both Mount Snow and Okemo ski mountains, made it an ideal choice for skiing enthusiasts like myself. The convenience of being just a short drive away from the slopes allowed me to maximize my time on the mountains while still having a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of each exhilarating day.
Additionally, the inn offered a range of amenities that further enhanced my stay. The hearty smoothie and breakfast bar provided a wonderful start to my day, and the inviting common areas, complete with crackling fireplaces, offered a cozy space to relax and unwind after a day of skiing.
Overall, my experience at the inn was nothing short of extraordinary. Its genuine cleanliness, matched by the hospitable nature, created an unforgettable stay that exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this inn to anyone seeking a cozy haven amid the stunning beauty of...
Read moreMy wife and I had a great stay at the Vermont House Inn (a Hermitage Properties facility) this past weekend. The accommodations were nice, the room was clean and quiet and well appointed, the bathroom was very swanky...
It's important to note that there is NO front desk at this inn, and no staff. Every question that we had, any issues that arose, had to be dealt with by an off-site staff member of Hermitage Properties over the telephone. They were very responsive to our needs, but I felt like it was really a "self-help" establishment.
On the website, it states that all rates include a "cooked breakfast" at the White House Inn (one of the MANY Hermitage Properties establishments in Willmington). When I called to get the times for breakfast, I was told that our stay didn't include any meals. I mentioned the listing on the website and they quickly issued us breakfast vouchers for our stay, with no arguments.
Another amenity was complimentary bicycles. We were told over the phone that the bikes were at the Hermitage Inn (yet another Hermitage Properties establishment), and that we'd have to help ourselves to them because there is no front desk/staff there, either. After much driving (way up to the Hermitage Clubhouse) and back down to the Hermitage Inn, we finally found the bikes.
In all, this was a really nice stay, and I'd go back again if I had the chance. If you're someone who wants to be waited on, or who wants the help of a concierge with everything, this isn't the place for you. You need to be able to figures some things out on your own and to help yourself.
Willmington is a really quaint little town with lots of eateries and places for quiet night life. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping wine on our third-floor balcony in the evenings and a cup of coffee there in the mornings. Though the inn is right on the main road, the traffic noises weren't bad at all.
The ONLY real negative that I can think of is that our particular room's wall-mounted AC unit, though very quiet, was mounted right over the bed and blew down onto the bed. It made the nights a...
