It takes a lot to wow me but this place is a gem that can take on any NYC restaurant. Our dining experience definitely ranks in the top 10 if not top five dining experiences.
I feel I must qualify to you that I spent 18 years working in fine dining at places like Union Square Cafe & Butter in NYC and the Wild Ginger in Seattle -- so much taste buds have been corrupted and now seek out amazing food.
Our experience started out with Susan working some magic to get us a last minute table on a Saturday night.
I started of with the refreshing Winter Alps cocktail while my wife had The Bernese Boot -- this kicked off and extravaganza of delight from here on out.
We had the Braised Pork Belly and Winter Salad for appetizers. Simply amazing in presentation and tastes.
I ordered the Pinot Nior Rose and asked James to surprise me with a glass to pair with the what we ordered. He brought the Luigi Giordano Nebbiolo and delight it did.
The wines played off of each other and the Salmon diner I had for an incredible experience.
My wife asked James to bring a paring for her lobster risotto and he showed up with the Nebbiolo Rose -- which was a scrumptious pairing.
For desert, our first round was the Crepe Suzette paired with an orange desert wine and it was delightful, but James said he was surprised because he thought we were creme brulee fans. WE ARE but we wanted to venture out, but still wanting more we had to try the maple infused creme brulee and it was the Chef Kiss to top of a super memorable date night.
We will be back for sure and this dinner is worth every minute spent driving from Brooklyn and will likely drew us up sooner to relive the magic...
Read moreBack in November, while surfing for a quick get away, I found this restaurant. I sent a message through the weblink and within minutes got a call back from the manager. She was a wealth of knowledge both of the restaurant but the local area as well, giving guidance for lodging and fun activities to do. However, due to circumstances, we had to cancel the reservation. Since our November plans fell through, and we've been trying to get back out to Alpenglow.
We finally were able to do an impromptu visit to VT two weeks ago with the plans to come have dinner here. First off, we highly recommend you make reservations. We were blessed to get the only two seats at the bar as it was sold out on a Sunday evening.
From the minute we walked into the restaurant, the entire staff was gracious and accommodating even after hearing we did not have a reservation. At 5pm on a Sunday the place was very busy and yet the bartender was able to give us the perfect amount of time to offer suggestions for drinks, dinner, desert and the score on the game. Her suggestions on drinks were spot on. The food, appetizer's, dinners and deserts were all amazing. From the minute we walked in, to the final conversation with the manager and the owner before we left, the entire experience with the restaurant, food and staff was amazing. It was worth the 90 minute travel to have dinner or the five minute walk from one of the local lodgings to have...
Read moreWe went to Alpenglow on recommendations from locals and could not be more impressed. My brother had flown in from Japan and we had friends up from Boston and were looking for a unique dining experience in Wilmington. First impressions were what a cool vibe. The decor was perfect for the environment. Right out of the gate Avery had greeted us with the warmest smile and her attention to detail was second to none. You can tell she takes pride in her work. She also was so accommodating on our phone reservation requests. Avery sat us within minutes and we where greeted by Raquel our server. She was the best. So many picky fine diners with us and foodies yet her suggestion on the menu were spot on. We all got exactly what was described and the food was on par with some of the best New York and Boston restaurants we have been to. Jeff the bartender was so accommodating as well. He made the perfect libations and was attentive to our needs. He is top notch! We even got the chance to speak with Susan the owner. She came to our table to check on everything. Such a nice gesture and nice seeing how much of a success she has made this place. Congrats! If there were 10 stars we would give it. We still talk about all meeting up in Wilmington in the near future and this restaurant will be on the top of our...
