We had a terrible experience at this restaurant today, and I feel compelled to share it. The service was provided by a group of young staff members who were unprofessional and frankly rude. It’s the norm here to order at the counter, but we wanted to leave a tip after our meal, not before. After all, a tip is generally seen as a gesture to "improve productivity," right? Apparently, this wasn’t appreciated. We ordered fries during our meal (since we realized there were no sides included with the main dish), but they never arrived. After 20 minutes, I went to check on this new order. I was told the ticket hadn’t gone through—oddly enough, this has happened twice now when I don’t tip at the counter before the service. It seems like the tickets mysteriously get lost when you don’t tip in advance!
Another 10 minutes later (so 30 minutes after the fries order), we finally got our fries, with a half-hearted apology and no compensation. To make matters worse, the chef decided to cover the fries in an excessive amount of salt, rendering them inedible. How amusing, right?
We didn’t want to make a scene, but it was clear we weren’t welcome there. Finally, when we asked for a light roast coffee, one of the servers stared at us, muttered something to his colleague, and they both chuckled before serving us dark roast instead.
Kudos to the wonderful team! If you’re looking for a place to experience humiliation, this is...
Read moreWhen asking for a pastry. One of the staff members didnʻt want to give me the fresh (looking), nicely displayed ones. This staff member insisted on giving me a pre-packaged - oils or butter already sweating through the paper bag - and what seems like yesterdayʻs stale pastry. So disappointing. I asked for one from under the glass cloche and the staff member said they donʻt give those out because to give pre-packaged is more ʻefficient.ʻ I am truly appalled by her reasoning. Giving a customer a fresh pastry is 2 seconds less efficient because she has to lift the glass cloche and put it in a bag.
But, this establishment made me wait 30 minutes for two sandwiches! That just boggled my mind! I stood there waiting for my food for 30 minutes. And even asked for my food. But she didnʻt have the time to hand me a fresh pastry and would rather serve me pre-packaged stale stuff?
The three stars are because the actual sandwiches were good. Kudos to the cook.
The dining area and merchandise area was cute. But the back porch/outdoor seating was in a bit of disrepair.
If the service was as good as the food. 5-stars for sure. But that staff member definitely soured...
Read moreEnded up getting brunch here on our way home from a weekend trip at Mt Snow, and initially seemed like a cute spot for breakfast, sandwiches and coffee. My friends and I each got different sandwiches which were fine, if a little pricey. The issue came when I also ordered an apple crisp that had literal mold growing on it. I brought it up to one of the employees who said that couldn't be the case, took one look at it, took it to the back where they just scooped off the part with mold on it and then just handed it right back to me. They did not offer a replacement or a refund which was ridiculous. Having worked in restaurants myself, I was just kind of speechless when they offered the moldy food back to me. I don't know how they're preparing their desserts that there could be mold on it, but it definitely made me paranoid about the rest of the food I was eating. Would avoid in the future, there are other places just as good for...
