TLDR: Lovely place, highly recommend.
The owners, Charlie and Megan, made every effort to make our stay a good one. Megan’s food was tremendous from the yummy cookies in the evening to the delicious breads and the fabulous breakfast in the morning. Charlie was always friendly and ready to assist you with something or to just have a nice chat. The Inn was clean, roomy, and decorated to make you feel more like you are a guest in someone’s home, which it did.
Our room was in the Carriage House. It was very quiet back there and we had easy, covered access to the main building. The beds were very soft, like sleeping in one of the bed’s feather pillows. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The toiletries were nice and the towels soft. There wasn’t a coffee maker in our room, but there was a fully appointed Keurig in the hall for shared use. There was also one in the main building for anyone to use. The wi-fi was strong in the main building. The Carriage House has its own wi-fi so the signal is always strong there too.
And we were the first guests to meet the new chickens and see them in their new coop on the property. Don’t worry though, they’re close enough to visit, but far enough away to not be heard from your room. They’ll make a nice addition to the place.
There are at least 1or 2 steps to get into the buildings and between buildings. Be prepared if you have someone unable to do stairs.
We had a great stay and I hope we are able to come back...
Read moreThe Wilmington Inn is a cozy haven, inviting guests to unwind with a hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and a good book. My wife and I have been a loyal couple to the Wilmington for eight years. Every morning, we are greeted by the delightful aroma of Megan’s freshly baked sourdough bread and baked goods, setting the perfect tone for our day. My wife is fond of Megan’s French toast and pancakes. This year, Megan introduced a few new items to the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed the open-faced eggwich.
After a wonderful breakfast, we embark on our daily adventures. As the day draws to a close, we find ourselves drawn to one of my favorite places on the planet, “Charlie’s Place.” Before heading out for dinner, we savor a refreshing cocktail. If the weather permits, Charlie ignites the fire pit, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where new friends are made and wonderful stories are shared.
One of my favorite songs, Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know,” perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Wilmington Inn. It’s a place where the world seems to slow down, and we can relax and let the world pass by. When life gets crazy and hectic, I always know that the Wilmington Inn is the sanctuary where I can find a moment of tranquility and...
Read moreI waited an entire year before writing this review, as I do not particularly enjoy having to state something negative online. Let me first give acknowledge the innkeepers who were very cordial people, and who no doubt are trying hard create a nice environment. However, things were not that great in our room, the Joseph Courtemanche Suite. The acoustic ceiling tiles were cracked and stained, and the green wall paint did not fully meet the ceiling, showing sloppy brush strokes. The sofa, which converts to a bed, was painfully uncomfortable. If you are going to charge nearly $300 a night for a room, you must live up the to expectations that go along with that. This did not. Downstairs there is a bar where we got 2 bottles of beer to bring up to our room. We were charged $24 plus tax. For the same amount of money per night, you could stay in the White House Inn just a mile or two down the road that is truly an excellent and beautiful Victorian mansion with top notch cuisine. That place gets 5 stars, but not this one. This is just a 3-star inn with...
