The review that I gave to Travelodge:
I was not impressed with the desk person when we arrived that evening. I wouldn't say she was rude, but she was cold, unpleasant and totally uninterested in me or my concerns.
Last November I had booked two king rooms through Wyndham and had the email to confirm it. When I arrived at the Travelodge, she told me that they were both double rooms. When I told her I had booked kings, she told me they were double rooms and asked, "Do you still want the rooms?" There was no empathy, and she knew that we had no other choice but to take them. She ignored my confirmation from Wyndham. We had rooms at the far end of the motel and twice I had to go back because we could not get the keys to work. Throughout it all, I felt that we were just a nuisance to her. In the room, I went online to check my account with Wyndham and discovered that someone had gone in and changed the reservations to two doubles.
The next morning, I showed the lady on the front desk my email confirmation for two kings and she was somewhat sympathetic, but claimed that "the system" had overbooked the king rooms and they were handed out on a first come basis. This is unacceptable to me, as I had booked the rooms 7 months in advance. To add insult to injury, I saw someone cleaning a king room, getting it ready for someone who had yet to arrive.
In one of our rooms, there were feces in the toilet. What does that say about cleanliness and sanitation? Did I let the lady at the front desk know? No, what good would it do? We just flushed it - which is what the cleaner should have done when she was cleaning the toilet. So, either the toilet was not cleaned or someone entered the room before we got there and used it.
The outward appearance of the motel is old and outdated. All rooms are accessed from the outside. There were people lolling about outside and a "crew van" blocked the entrance to the motel so that we had to park and walk back to register. The lobby was small, dingy, and again had someone sitting around doing nothing. It was not inviting at all. The crew van sat there all night and was still there when we left in the morning.
In fairness, the rooms had been renovated recently and the beds and bathrooms were quite nice (except for the problem...
Read moreTHEY DONT WEAR MASKS! First room had the heat taken apart and all over the ground, then the door didn’t lock, when i asked for a new room they gave me one, not super clean but ok. then i turn around only to see several staff members without masks walking around both outside and inside the building. there was a “tv sensor” in my room that looks like a camera aimed at the bed perfectly but not in the room previously, i unplugged it because i was initially worried about camera horror stories and asked what it was. When I asked the receptionist why was on top of my tv that looks like a a camera, she asked me what i was talking about with a puzzled and concerned look, and then some guy in the back told her “sensor”. I found it odd that your receptionist, who works there, is unaware you have these on the tvs as I am sure i cannot be the first to ask what that is. When I looked it up, typically these “sensors” are a for anti theft or remotes but almost always include closed circuit camera or recording device to catch a thief after the fact. however, it didn’t go off, alert staff or effective the tv whatsoever when I had unplugged it 2 minutes prior to talking to them tv sensors i have encountered have not looked like this and are usually not pointed at the bed but either sitting on the back of the tv or a box not something velcroed on. to feel less uncomfortable i covered it up but didn’t have an easy time sleeping. Even if the thing is a sensor, it’s creepy looking and unmarked but added with a cable to the tv very makeshift like— also very unnerving when your staff responds with “i’m not sure what that is, what are you talking about?” — it does not ease someone at all. Additionally your staff was unmasked minus one person at the desk, and the rooms were not worth the weirdness of...
Read moreI typically stay at the Rodeway inn on the other side of Winslow. On this particular trip, I decided to give Travelodge a chance. The motel is dated, but the room was clean and front desk guy was friendly. Rates are decent, and the truck and trailer parking is plentiful. However, my one night stay was far from perfect. The truck parking area has no street lamps, making it difficult to see at night, and one must maneuver carefully to avoid knee deep craters. These parking lot pot holes could 'high center' a low boy trailer. The mini refrigerator in the room didn't work very well, leaving my Diet Coke barely cold the next morning. I tried to warm up some Buffalo chicken wings in the microwave, only to discover the turntable plate didn't turn. The TV remote also didn't work, possibly it just needed new batteries. Like I said, my stay wasn't perfect, but only minor inconvenience. Nothing serious. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water. Coffee in the morning was drinkable. I'd stay here again. Realistically:...
