Called for a reservation for 11/17/2024 on 11/16. Specifically asked for 2 queen beds with disability assistant in the room meaning grab bars in shower and a higher toilet. Was told it was all set, got a confirmation # and was told because of the 48 hour cancellation policy, I couldn't cancel. After miles and miles of driving I got to the hotel on 11/17. Exhausted from the drive, registered and paid the previously agreed fee of $221.00. Got to the room with luggage and used the bathroom, noticing the toilet was lower than the ada toilets I usually use and noticed there were no grab bars in or around the shower or tub. Pissed but exhausted, had a sandwich and went back to the room, realizing I had no other choice but to stay here as the other hotels were booked and I wasn't able to drive further, plus the money I already spent was non-refundable. The room was nice enough, but even after setting the heat at 62 degrees, the room felt like a sauna all night. In the morning I couldn't wait to get out of there, wasn't able to shower due to lack of grab bars near the tub and when asked by the clerk how my stay was I indicated that room was not an ADA room. The clerk said someone in the ada room decided to stay another night and asked if someone called me about it's unavailability. I said no one called as I would have made different decisions about staying there. Clerk said he would talk to someone about the unavailability of the ada room I previously reserved with others Aside from sleeping in a sauna, having major issues getting up off the low toilet, facing the dishonesty of the clerk, paying $248.00 for the room and a sandwich, in an unacceptable to me room and leaving in the morning unable to take a shower, I can not recommend this hotel to anyone! If ever in Winslow, AZ. again I also will never do business with this...
Read moreRecently stopped at The Winslow based on the location and the newness of the hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant and the overall hotel inside and outside were clean. As expected for a new hotel.
Our room was #210 and looked out into the parking lot, with the covering of the area where you pull through blocking the majority of our view. The room was big, and the layout of the room was lacking in areas to layout a suitcase. Perfect for someone who will stay longer than a day.
Slept well on the mattress and from our experience, the hotel was quiet.
There is a master switch next to the bed which allows you to turn on/off the lights above the bed. This I didn't realize until the next day, pondering what a "master switch" actually did.
The fan does run constantly in the bathroom and the only way to muffle it is to shut the bathroom door at night.
One negative with our room was the amount of suction that the room seemed to gather when opening/shutting the door into the hallway. Anyone with less strength in their arms would find the process extremely difficult. Perhaps rooms elsewhere didn't have this same challenge.
Breakfast was good. A small area outside the bar area. In the evenings you can stop at the bar and enjoy a mixed drink, draft, or food from the kitchen.
Also be aware that you are charged a $100 incidental charge in case damage is caused in the room. It is released providing there is no reason to apply the charge to your card.
We would probably stay here again if...
Read moreStraight ripoff, I booked a room through hotels.com, filtered “pet friendly” hotels. Found this hotel, the pics looked decent for a travelers hotel, I red everything that was on the screen about amenities etc, paid for the room on my phone while getting gas, they warn you this booking dates can not be changed, they are not refundable, I got there and the lady at the front desk said there’s a $50 “PET FEE” per night. When I mentioned that, that was NOT on the website she said ok I’ll check the website and if is not there I will wave that. I knew it was not there so I stayed. At the end of my trip I found out I was charged $50 “pet fee” and $8.94 for “pet occupancy taxes” I called the manager to get a refund stating that fee was not on the hotels.com website she said if you scroll all the way down and click on property details info or something like that, there is a line stating that there’s a $50 charge per pet per night. That should be the next question after how many guests adult:, Children, Pets: and get a total, not having a hidden charge because nobody wants to stay in a nasty hotel they manage. With all the money they steal in that way they should at least wash the stains in the couches and find a way to vent the rooms that smell like dollar store detergent. Out of ALL the hotels I stayed with my family and pet in my trip from CA to TN this was the ONLY hotel that Charged a hidden “Pet Fee” yet the only one that the couches were so filthy I couldn’t even sit...
