I emailed with room specific questions weeks before arrival and got no response. We made this reservation through our Sam’s Club membership and was paid in full. Upon arrival, we were charged an extra daily resort fee for use of the pools….. the outdoor pool is out of commission and the indoor is so packed full of people we won’t be using it. Wasn’t pleased with extra fees but brushed it off. No luggage carts to help bring luggage in. Hallways stink of weed and @ss. Dogs barking in peoples rooms as we walked down the hallway. Opened the door to our room and got a huge whiff of cleaner but the room was far from clean. Tv screen is no bigger than my iPad screen, we had to move the furniture close to the tv to try to see it. The two sitting chairs provided with the table must be from IKEA because you touch them and they fall apart! No mini fridge to keep drinks in. We actually went to Walmart and purchased a mini fridge to put in our room as we are staying four days and needed one. Was looking forward to the balcony in our room but a sign on the balcony door said it was under construction and if seal was broken a $100 fee would be charged. So we can sit inside and look out at the broken down outdoor water area that consists of an inground pool back filled with dirt and over grown with weeds. We asked for an extra blanket at 5pm as we have a sleeper sofa in room and needed a blanket for it. Was told they would deliver said blanket. At 9pm we called (using cell phone due to no phones in room) and it rang and rang for ten minutes. We kept the phone online ringing as we drove around and entered to front desk. Phone is ringing on our end but no phone ringing at front desk where employee was standing twiddling her thumbs and manager was standing at end of counter chatting away with someone. I asked why she wasn’t answering the phone and showed her the cell phone that was still waiting for her to answer on her end. She looked annoyed and stated she had no phone service due to the rain outside. I sure hope there isn’t an emergency! So I asked about the blanket we were promised four hours ago and she said they just took it up to our room…… well we have been waiting and now we are tired of waiting and going to eat something. She got us a blanket from the front desk. This entire place is a joke, we are stuck here for the next three days because there are no refunds but there is also no accommodations or upgrades for the awful service or conditions. Anyone with positive reviews about this dump must be employed here. We will NEVER be staying here again. Edited to reply to owner response….. Renovations?!?!?! Anybody that knows how to use google search can see that the outdoor pool was closed by the state in 2019 and it is currently 2024 so just how long does it take to renovate? Any specifics to improve for future customers, yes…… how about have staff that can and will reply to emails. Hire staff that can and will answer a ringing telephone while they are standing at the desk twiddling their thumbs with no other guests in the lobby. How about put a mini fridge in your rooms, it cost us $84 to purchase our own to keep medication cold! How about offer room upgrades or discounts for those of us that are forced to stay in a half furnished room because of the no refund policy. How about properly cleaning the rooms, we had toothpaste stuck all over our floors and the back of the bathroom door was covered in a white powder, can’t even wipe a door down! Funny how you ask how you can make the remainder of our stay better…… you waited to ask AFTER we checked out and your staff refused to try to accommodate any concerns when we checked in. Staff is very arrogant and unfriendly. Manager stands around talking to people with his shirt half tucked in and the other half hanging down his side….. even while speaking to the officer directly outside the lobby doors so we all could hear the conversation as we entered the building. The owner should be ashamed of themselves for overly charging for half furnished, unclean rooms. Mt Olympus...
Read moreWe have stayed at the hotel many times since 2010. The last time was back in 2013. This past April 2023. My wife booked a room from July 27 to July 31/2023 checkout. As my children love the outdoor water park and close proximity to Noah’s Ark water park. 2 days before we were to arrive. My wife received a email from the Polynesians hotel that the outdoor water park was closed and that they would be providing free passes to Noah’s Ark water park . My wife try’ed to cancel and rebook at a different hotel. But was told that we had to cancel within 7 days before we arrived. So we made the decision to continue. We arrived on the 27 of July 2023. And were put into the older section of the hotel. The room was for 6 people which we had booked for . We saw that the outdoor water park had the one of the pool’s filled in with clean fill for some time and it appeared to have been closed for several months. Judging by the amount of growth and debris etc. so the hotel knew months ago that the outdoor water park was closed and did not inform customers that had booked months ago about the outdoor water parks being closed. The room was dinged and the bedding was not clean and fresh as it had marks on it and not pressed clean. The bathroom was small and had spiders crawling around till I killed them and the door did not close properly. And when one had a shower, the tub drain did not drain properly and filled up with water. And the main door to leave . One could see underneath it into the hall. A very small television screen and dirty burned stained microwave. The room was very old and walls needed a washing down. We did go to Noah’s Ark in the afternoon and found out that we had to pay for parking at the water park. $20.00 for each vehicle, we had 2 vehicles at $40.00. X 2 days We were not impressed by that as it was never paid parking back in 2013. The Hotel should have informed us of this and should have paid for it or provide shuttle service to and from the water park. Also the hotel no longer offers the continental breakfast like they did. Which was a feature we liked. Then there was having to go to the front desk to get a ice bucket as there was none in our room that took awhile for the staff to find the right keys to open the supply room. Then finding out that 2 ice machine’s between our room did not work and had to walk all the ways to the new wing and find one that worked. We then had to put up with the people above us banging around and stomping on the floor late at night and starting at 0630 in the morning. I try’ed calling the front desk. But found out our room phone did not work. So took another walk at 1130 Thursday night to complain about the noise at the front desk. Didn’t help as it continued right through our stay till we left. Friday night while we were out. It rained heavily and a a tornado warning sounded with air raid sirens going off at around 2100(9pm). Upon arrival back at our hotel room. We found water had leaked into our room from the A/C unit which was a loud unit that a lot of noise when in use as it was very hot out in the +30’s Celsius. We had to clean up the water using towels . We were informed that the staff could not do anything as they were short staffed and a staff went next door to get towels for everyone to clean up the water in their rooms. The indoor water park was old and short staffed. The hot tub was closed off and full of dirty yellow water and bugs. And trying to go down the steps to the lazy river was a challenge as some guest felt that they could sit on the stairs and block them and prevent anyone from going down them. Or glared at us for asking them to move out of the way. Overall we were not impressed with our stay. And had we known about the situation with the outside water park closed and the conditions of the rooms ahead of time we would have canceled long before our arrival date. One last thing the pictures posted on their website are not what the hotel and water parks look like today, but what it looked like a decade...
Read moreIgnore all the terrible reviews, it really wasn't bad at all. It didn't really smell and it was a lot cleaner than everyone is making it seem, the place is literally cleaner than my house lol. The staff was super nice and helpful, we didn't have a single problem checking in or getting into the door like a lot of people have said, the whole thing actually went really smooth. Most of the bad reviews are just uptight Karen's who like to find something wrong with everything. We stayed in the suite with the pool view, was worried because of the reviews that there would be no dishes or anything but the cabinets were fully stocked. The only thing I will say is I've been coming here since I was a tiny baby and I'm 26 now, my parents actually had their honeymoon here back in 97 and this place used to be so amazing, everything was top notch, there was a nice fish tank in the lobby, a gift shop, tons of hot tubs and waterfalls, restaurants, and everything was decorated tropical/ Hawaiian. When I was a kid this was my favorite place in the whole world, you could literally ask me to choose anywhere in the world to go, Disney world, etc and I would've chose the Polynesian, it makes me so sad seeing how much everything has changed , although I am glad it seems like some things are finally getting taken care of. Everything was great but a few things. Number 1, the pool with the basketball hoops, hot tub and sauna next to the lobby is permanently closed and just filled with chairs , lamps , mattresses etc. I don't know why they would do that, I loved that pool because it was one of the only normal pools to swim in, there was also a hot tub and it was open later than the water park so it was a great place for adults, I don't know what their idea was but I definitely would've left that the way it was. Number 2, nothing matches and they are going for a modern fancy look rather than a tropical tiki type theme so I don't even know why it's called the Polynesian anymore , it would be 100000 times better if they went for the tropical look and stayed with the original theme which I always loved. Number 3, I'm pretty sure the arcade is gone and the elevator that went to it appears to just be stuck at the top lol. The last thing is the waterfalls. It sucks the basketball hoop pool is gone and all that but I am still really happy the slides and lazy river work because that has always probably been my favorite thing. The hot tub also was working which was a pleasant surprise, but they covered up the second hot tub and made it a little lifeguard area which sucks but I guess at least the one hot tub is still there. Lastly though, which is the biggest thing, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEE fix the waterfalls!!! It can't be that hard, the waterfalls on the lazy river and the little waterfall in the hot tub is non functional , if they were fixed it would make things 10x better and it would be so much cooler, I do miss the animatronic pirates and all the cool lights and it being dark inside the lazy river it used to be so cool, they did do a good job though decorating it in there it looks pretty cool now but the broken waterfalls kind of ruined it for me, that's probably what upset me the most the whole trip, I used to love going under the huge waterfalls as you come out of the lazy river. So overall we had a pretty good trip. Everything went smooth, staff was super nice and helpful and it was actually pretty clean. Definitely ignore all the bad reviews. But please I am begging you FIX THE WATERFALLS ITS NOT THAT HARD!! at least the ones over the lazy river! And try to go for a more tropical look! Other than that the place is actually pretty nice. Definitely going to stay here again I just hope the waterfalls are fixed by then and I...
