After working a full shift my husband and I travelled 3 hours to spend the night and meet family the next day to celebrate my birthday. At check-in there was a sign that said pardon our mess while we remodel. Once checked in, we moved our car and entered our room! I immediately noticed there was garbage in the garbage can but initially let it slide as it was carpet. Upon further inspection there was a used coffee cup also. I let that slide as we were just there to sleep! We left to get supper and then stopped at the store before returning to our room. After my bath I climbed under the blanket in bed and thought I saw a bug fall off the bed when I flipped the blanket. I saw it land and then couldn’t find it!! My husband shut the light off to go to sleep when I told him I saw something on the pillow. He quickly turned the light back on and found a bed bug crawling on the pillow 6 inches from my head! I immediately called the front desk who apologized. She offered to move me across the hall. I told her I was disgusted and wouldn’t be able to sleep and would rather just leave. She told me to stop at the front desk. I expressed my concern about a refund because it said our stay was nonrefundable. She told me that there are exceptions and I shouldn’t have an issue. We checked out and cancelled our meeting with my family and drove the 3 hours back home. Upon calling and speaking with hotels.com, they contacted Best Western who declined our refund! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

At first I was a little irked because we arrived at noon and were told check in is at 4:00pm. We really weren't there to do the whole "Dells" experience. Just needed a place to stay for the night. Fortunately, a manager was there and said it was ok to check in right away. That was definitely amazing since we had young kids and had been on the road for hours! Check in was really easy and they even give you free passes to a waterpark in town. We didn't use them, but that was really nice. The room was clean and had a great sliding glass/screen door to the outside pool area. I'm thankful that the locks on those doors actually worked! I've been to places in the Dells before that cost 4 times more than BW and the screen doors to their patios were horrendous. Again, with young kids, this was great! We loved the outdoor heated pool and waterfall. The splash pad was really cold but it was in the high 60s when we there. We understand you can't heat the splash pad. The indoor pool was great too. heated as well. Not too hot though. perfect. The breakfast was great as well. A large variety of food and the staff refilled it well. I love the location of this hotel, and enjoyed the wooded area around it. Hearing the birds and the pool's water features in the morning while having breakfast on the porch was so relaxing. We will definitely return to this BW

I visited this hotel last week through Bluegreen Vacations, and I wasn't pleased. The hotel does need some updating when it comes to the design (i.e., carpets). This hotel also featured free continental breakfast, and it wasn't the best nor tasty. They really didn't have any sort of variety mostly powdered eggs, cereal and milk, fruit (oranges and apples), coffee and no tea (they stated they served tea but there was none), waffles, smothered gravy and biscuits... Plus, the beds were comfy, and the pillows were too fluffy. The tub was a bit smaller, but the shower and water pressure were nice. Also, there were some noisy kids running around the hotel, plus I smelled weed coming through my hotel door and in the hallway when I went to get some ice. Plus, there weren't really any other types of food spots nearby, I had to travel almost 10 minutes to get a pizza. I don't think I will visit this hotel again since I enjoyed Springhill Suites by Marriott more better. Overall, the experience at this hotel was 2 out of 10 stars.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. It all started with my reservation call. I asked to reserve two adjoining rooms so myself, my husband, and my young children would have enough space to be comfortable. The reservation person stated that even though they had adjoining rooms, they cannot be reserved. Why bother having adjoining rooms if you can’t book them? When we arrived to check in, there was food and spilled soda all over the lobby. The front desk staff was rude and could’ve cared less that we arrived. We told the front desk that I know it’s early to check in at 9:30am, but could we please have the first available room so our young children could lay down to nap in the afternoon? The staff did not care and simply stated check in is at 4pm. So we went about our day at returned at 12:30pm. Of course our room was still not ready and the staff continued to say check in is at 4pm. We understand that, but you’re telling me there are absolutely no rooms clean yet? So we make our way to the pool to swim for the afternoon while we wait. The public restrooms are closed so our children had to go to the bathroom in their pull-ups. The pool area smelled like marijuana. At 3pm my children were very tired and anxious to lay down. I again went up to the front desk and asked if our room was ready almost 6 hours after we talked in the morning. Yet again our room was still not ready. Several groups of people ahead of me in line received keys to their rooms. I asked why they got room keys and our room is not ready? The front desk and manager were rude to me and stated that our room was preassigned and was not clean. I asked for a different room and they stated that all rooms were preassigned and could not be modified. I asked why they couldn’t mark our preassigned room to be cleaned first since we checked in so early? The front desk said we don’t do that. I said my children really need to lay down and they said that’s your problem check in is at 4pm. Finally at 4pm our room was ready. The room was dirty and the smoke detector was pulled out of the ceiling with a washcloth stuffed inside. There were people coming and going loudly all night long and the police were called outside. This was so horrible we decided not to stay another night. When I told the front desk we were leaving early due to our experience, they just said they’d let housekeeping know. They could’ve cared less that I was upset. Please do...

Price point is reasonable. Subpar to basic experience. This isn't a 5 star hotel and you shouldn't expect it. The value of room is in alignment to cost considering the area. The hotel check in and check out process is seamless. You have to check to make sure hotel staff cleaned room properly. I had leftover items in fridge from the previous guest (I threw it out). Room was near indoor pool and smell of chlorine was strong. I either adjusted to scent or the smell lessened the following day. Other issues...bed was clean but things like linen and shower curtain needed to be retired. My family was there to celebrate the life of someone we lost last year on Labor Day - we had a number of rooms. It wasn't a time to be snooty as the price point allowed us to better afford the trip. I've stayed in all types of hotels from 5 star to 2 star. This wasn't the best experience but it also wasn't the worst. The staff were pleasant. Improvement opportunities would be cleaning the hallway floors as it really is the introduction of a lowered expectations; they need TLC or to be replaced (1st floor near the pool). Be willing to retire some sheets and shower curtains. Going into a room and seeing linen that is no where near the "white" it should be is disappointing. The shower curtain as well. I saw other rooms and this was not in all rooms. I am appreciative of the price point because it allowed family to afford it and we had a pretty large group. Not the best and definitely not the worst experience. Cell phone service was bad for me and several people in my party but that wasn't a big deal and absolutely nothing that could be corrected by hotel. Great location - close to downtown Wisconsin Dells, other stores and restaurants. Great value - you have to make sure room is up to par. I think all hotels you need to do your own...

The staff at the Best Western Ambassador Hotel in Wisconsin Dells were the highlight of our stay—friendly, helpful, and responsive. Unfortunately, the hotel itself needs significant attention. While some updates like new carpet are noticeable, it’s not enough to make up for the overall condition.

The bathroom was not clean when we arrived—floors were filthy, and I had to clean it myself before we could use it. The pull-out sofa mattress was stained and unpleasant, with no mattress pad provided. I ended up purchasing one just to make it usable.

The worst part of our stay was the behavior of other guests. Almost every time I used an entrance other than the main lobby, people were smoking cigarettes or marijuana. The hallways often smelled of pot, and on two separate occasions, the smell even made its way into our room.

We tried using the outdoor pool one morning around 10:30 AM and encountered groups drinking, vaping, and smoking both cigarettes and marijuana—right at the pool and nearby tables. The language used was foul and inappropriate for families. A hotel employee did stop by to enforce the no-smoking, no-drinking policy, but as soon as they left, the guests resumed what they were doing. We ended up leaving because the smell was unbearable.

The location is also less than ideal—far from the main attractions of the Dells—and the price does not reflect the quality or experience. For the same cost, you can stay at much nicer hotels like the Hilton Garden Inn or Holiday Inn, which are in better locations and far better condition.

The staff truly did their best, but the condition of the hotel and the behavior of other guests made for a...
