Honestly this is the first time I'm writing a review about a restaurant. I definitely did not have a good experience here. I guess I should've taken the hint that this isn't a favorite spot since there was no customers there at 2pm when my family arrived. We got inside, staff was friendly and they sat us down. One of the staff members told us to wait before grabbing food because he needed to check on the food. I was confused as to why he would need to check on the food when there were no customers there.
After a couple of minutes they told us we could grab food. Honestly I could tell the food was old. Nothing was fresh and you could tell they didn't remake any of the dishes.
After eating for a little bit, one of the staff brought our beverages. My father sat across from me, and I saw that his Tea Cup had pink smears (definitely from lipstick) facing towards me. I went to go ask for a new cup. This made me feel sick to my stomach because if that small cup isn't clean, what else isn't clean?
After going to ask the staff for a new cup, I went to go sit back down, and my father tells me he ate a black hard plastic wire from this one noodle dish. When the staff came back with a new cup, I told her about the plastic wire. She told me she will go talk to her boss, and she came back to tell me it was from their net they scoop the noodles from.
I'm very concerned about that dish, and other dishes they are making with utensils that are worn out?
I was disturbed from both incidents and stopped eating because I just felt so sick to the stomach. Even after those incidents, my bill was still $150+ for 6 people.
I had to go ask for a discount because of how inconvenient the incidents were. She gave me a 10% discount, which I thought was too little for 2 incidents and the old food my family ate. I guess I should be thankful to have gotten the discount, but we traveled such a far distant to come and enjoy our time in the Dells, and this is a place that I will not be returning with my family. It's not the intent of the place to have given me such a bad experience, but for experience I have gotten for my first time, this has...
Read moreMy family went out to dinner at this location for the first time since we were visiting Wisconsin Dells. The food was dry and the taste wasn't good. They had sushi but I didn't want to give it a try after tasting their other food. They didn't have much variety so I had mostly cheese wonton, fried rice, chicken, and egg rolls. The wonton were very dry and crunchy and the fried rice didn't taste very good. The egg rolls had no flavor. The chicken was very dry. You can tell the food has been out for a while. My children complained about how dried and hard the chicken nuggets and fries were. At first I thought they were just complaining but they were indeed dried and hard, very unedible.
This particular night the business owner didn't look so happy. He was constantly pacing around in the front of the buffet and on the phone. About 10 minutes after we sat down at our table, another family came in and sat next to us. I saw them get up and fill some of their trays sat down and for some reason just walked out. Their food were untouched. We suspected they most of not liked the food from just seeing it. This prompted the business owner to come around and asked every customer again, even though we already told and request our drinks from the server when we were sitting, what their children's ages (including ours) were and what sort of drinks we ordered. He looked like he was annoyed when we were counting and trying to figure out how much and what beverages our family members had. While checking out a couple walked in and was standing behind us while we were paying and the business owner grunting hand signaled pointing them to the tables. A couple seconds later a family walks in and asked about the price per tray for take out, which the sever said it was $15 per tray, but the owner shouted twice at the customer that it was $15 per pound.
If you're ever in Wisconsin Dells I would suggest you look somewhere else for Chinese food. With the price and food quality here I do not...
Read moreSunny Asian Gourmet offers an okay experience, but a few aspects hold it back from a higher rating. We were seated immediately, which was great, though we did observe subsequent customers waiting about 10 minutes. I went in starving and ready to cure my munchies, but the food itself was generally "okay" at best, and honestly, much of it didn't look appetizing. I barely managed to eat a half-full plate because of this, and unfortunately, some items were cold by the time we got back to our table, which was disappointing.
My meal ended up being mostly fruit and a tiny side of icecream. I will give them credit: the green melon was delicious, and of course, the ice cream was good. However, this brings me to the main issue: the pricing. Compared to other Chinese buffets I've visited, the cost here felt quite high for the selection of food. With a base price of $20, plus an additional $4 for drinks and a mandatory $4 tip, it quickly added up to over $30 per person with all fees and for what amounted to very little actual buffet food. Given that we frequent the Dells for large family trips this was a definite drawback and simply not worth the cost. The cheapest bill was 26$ and that was only bc one of us had gotten away water.
On a positive note, the service was good, with one standout employee who truly went above and beyond. Noticing our interest in ice cream and seeing only one empty bucket, they thoughtfully brought out three fresh buckets of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. That was a really nice touch and the highlight of our visit. We had high hopes for this place given its good reviews, especially coming from Chicago where our local Chinese restaurants are good and resonably priced for the slection and quality of the food, but overall, it was just an average experience and we likely won't...
