I happened to stumble upon this wonderful B&B while researching places to stay in the Whites. We weren't sure what to expect, and were more than pleasantly surprised. We stayed 3 nights in early May, and while it was chilly outside, the welcoming fireplace and their hospitality (among many other things!) really made our stay one of the best experiences I've ever had.
The owners are WONDERFUL - personable, friendly, gave great recommendations for things to do in the area, and went out of their way to make us feel at home.
The inn is beautiful inside and out, and you can clearly see the care and hard work being put into it by the owners from the fresh gardening outside, to the mats for muddy hiking boots in the foyer. :)
Rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, and despite the many other guests staying there, our stay was extremely peaceful and quiet - honestly quieter than most of my hotel experiences.
The food is DELICIOUS, and the portions are perfect for a long day of adventuring. Most days, we really didn't need lunch! Every morning we had our choice of breakfast, from eggs our way, to pancakes our way (HIGHLY recommend) or crepes our way. Always served with smile, a hot cup of coffee, juice, muffins for two and a big bowl of fresh fruit. They even added a birthday candle to my pancakes! :)
This is without question one of the best vacations I've had in a while - so relaxing and pleasant...
Read moreSupporting small/local businesses has been highly stressed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and after staying at The Wilderness Inn, I could not more highly recommend one to support. We were pleasantly surprised to find this B&B for a last-minute hiking adventure in the Whites. The lobby was cozy, and great care was taken to be cautious of COVID. We were upgraded to the “Maine” suite, which was thoughtfully curated around the Maine theme, was spacious, and quite clean. Alan was a gracious host, going far above and beyond what we could have ever expected. While breakfast is typically served from 7:30-9:30am, Alan made us wonderful breakfasts at 6:30am to-go and additionally packed snacks for the trails. Regarding location, we were within walking distance of several restaurants and shops, a short drive to Loon, and many hikes such as Franconia Notch, Mount Moosilauke, Mount Osceola, Mount Tecumseh, the Lost River Gorge, and several others. Finally, I cannot stress how thoughtful our hosts were at the Wilderness Inn. We will certainly be back in the...
Read moreHad the best weekend with my fiancé in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This bed and breakfast was in a perfect location surrounded by beautiful mountains, flowing rivers, and a great selection of restaurants to choose from. The house itself was a majestic older home that had a great rustic feel to it, but held modern amenities such as fast Wi-Fi, a jacuzzi tub along with cable and a high definition television. The room was very clean and had themed decorations that were selected specifically for each room. We stayed in the Connecticut room and it was very cute space for the two of us. The breakfast was very in depth and did not disappoint. It starts out with a choice of a homemade muffin and a colorful bowl of fruit. After that you have a great selection of hot breakfast items such as pancakes, waffles, French toast, and very fancy customized omelets. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. Overall great spot to stay in such a beautiful location, and I will definitely be back...
