The staff was responsive and helpful when we stayed there. I booked my room online and requested a quiet top floor room as we were there for a regional bowling tournament for my high school aged daughter and I wanted her to sleep well so we wanted the top floor. Upon arriving, we had to switch three times until we found a room that we thought was satisfactory. The first room was right off the elevator on the third floor (out of 4 floors), the second was on the top floor but it stunk, and the third room tho was on the third floor (they said there weren't any other fourth floor rooms available except one by the elevator) was in its own suite and was fine but it just seemed tired. I was appreciative of their patience with us to find a decent room. They didn't get mad at us.
We swam (pool very cold with lots of chlorine..and only 3 towels there--perfect for us but not anyone after us). Worked out (nice facility). Enjoyed Uber delivery of pizza in our room.
Night time....terrible!!!! Loud upstairs folks. Can hear everything in surrounding rooms. Can hear car noises outside. Room was stuffy and hot. Temp would only go down to 65 but sometimes it would shoot out heat instead of cool (we like it cold when we sleep). The room fan doesn't stay on. We did not sleep well. Very disappointed.
The furniture was all old and raggedy. The pillows uncomfortable. The sheets scratchy.
My daughter forgot her boots in our room. I called a few days later asking about them. They took my info but have not returned a call. I guess they took the boots as their tip...
We would not stay there again. The hotel needs updating and care.
UPDATE based on owner's response... First, to shame me? What?!
Second, I speak only the truth. I DID call the front desk at 11pm and kindly asked what a person was to do with loud overhead noise. They said they would take care of it. It didn't stop.
Third, as for the sheets and pillows, you may think they are fine but when my 12 and 14 year old children comment on the quality, I believe them.
Fourth, I did not comment negatively on your staff at the front desk or in the kitchen area. As you will see from my review, I stated that the staff was helpful and responsive.
Fifth, the furniture in the room was old and torn and shredded. A year old?
Six, are you implying I did not call the front desk and place my lost boots request? You are shaming me AND calling me a liar?
Finally, I would think as a hotel manager you would want to rectify this situation and not name call. If I am reading you correctly, you are even shaming the hockey team (s) by insinuating that they were the loud ones.
Future Hotel guests, you have been warned. Btw, read other reviews. The heater and ac issues were not unique to our room, the level of chlorine in the pool and the lack of pool towels are a repeated complaint, and finally and most importantly, the way they manage problems is not unique...
Read moreWas looking for a nights get away and something fun for my wife, my toddler, and I to enjoy since we dont get much alone time these days. We checked in and went into our room (room 102) and much to our horror there was an open knife, a bottle of peroxide and crumbled dry wall all over the floor. This knife was left in the middle of the floor and my toddler was able to pick it up and try to carry it around. The room stunk like the toilet hadnt been flushed for days also. I immediately went to the front counter with it all in hand and expressed my disgust with what was found. The manager apologized and basically said sorry about that. There was a younger kid with her that i dont think quite understood the magnitude or gravity of the situation and was like well its just peroxide in a bottle. Manager gave me a $30 credit on my room and moved us to a different room.
In the next room across the hall (room 103) we start to unpack and realize that the room was somewhat hot. Come to find out the darn plug was pulled out of the A/C unit. Manager came to fix it.
This room was very dirty still, crumbs all over counter and floors. Hard surface floor was extremely sticky had to wear shoes in the living area almost all night. We wanted our toddler to be able to sleep on the sofa bed that night. We pulled it out only to find that the sofa bed had no sheets or anything with it. We did manage to find a handfull of cat toys and cat hair and food in it though. This would explain the nasty fish smell that we couldnt find all night until then. And this also explains the allergic reaction that my wife and son were having that night, Because they are both allergic to cats.
That topped off that night.
The next morning when I went to check out i thought i was doing the next person a favor by telling the front desk that there apparently was an animal in the room and the room had been poorly cleaned. I was told that i would be reaponsible for what ever needed to be done to the room by house keeping due to the cat! REALLY!!?! NOT MY ANIMAL FOLKS!!! Why would i tell you that hey you should clean the room better if i had an animal that did it and why would i be complaining about the filth of the room if i caused it
I would truely not recommend this place to anyone. I honestly felt that because of the larger rooms and the fact that this hotel is just over a year old if that this would have been a very enjoyable stay for us. Truely disappointed and will be reaching out to Marriott over this. Never had such a disappointing stay at a...
Read moreThe company my boyfriend and I work for paid for a month and a half stay at this location while we were working in the grand rapids area, and I had an amazing experience during my extended stay and have a few shout outs-
The sales manager Katrina was beyond helpful and accommodating after a slight hiccup at the one month mark, she contacted the company directly and made sure the reservation was all set to ensure there wasn't an unnecessary move and we were able to keep our room.
The general manager Sean has an amazing sense of humor and kept two steps ahead, available with what was needed before I even realized the need was there, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and help out with the basic tasks of keeping the hotel functioning.
Dom does an amazing job making sure everything looks perfect, and always had a smile and a positive attitude as he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.
Christina at the front desks in the evenings is considerate and dedicated, making sure everything is just right for the guest, following up the next day with sincere concern, ready to make any changes nessisary if things weren't just right.
I thoroughly enjoyed the late night talks about our hobbies we have in common with Bill at the front desk, coming back to the hotel from working late.
As a rule of thumb, I've learned to stay away from the hotel breakfast eggs, but Lynn's scrambled eggs were so amazing, I honestly put on a few pounds from eating the breakfast here, alone. She's the sweetest woman, full of energy and all heart, and i will always cherish the memories of the good food and conversation with her and Bill in the mornings.
Nerideth and her housekeeping team do a stellar job at keeping the rooms neat and clean throughout the stay while being respectful of the guests belongings.
I didn't expect to be as sad as I was, leaving this hotel to come back to Lansing, and I fully contribute that to all of the lovely human beings working at this beautiful establishment. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making my stay in Wyoming for work more like an amazing vacation that I...
