I visited Kinya Ramen on December 22nd with my girlfriend and two friends for a double date. We were on a mission to find unique cuisine for lunch and decided to try Kinya Ramen after being impressed by the reviews and photos. When we arrived, there weren’t many customers, which was great because we were seated right away.
Our waiter was kind and welcoming, setting a positive tone for our experience. While we’d had pho before, this was our first time trying authentic ramen, so we were excited. We decided to start with appetizers instead of diving straight into entrees. We ordered shrimp tempura, something we’ve had before, and Takoyaki (octopus balls), which was new to us. The menu described it as pieces of octopus fried in a ball with sauce on top, so we assumed it would be similar to calamari.
The shrimp tempura arrived first, and it was exceptional—crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Honestly, it was the best tempura I’ve ever had. Next came the Takoyaki, which looked exotic and was nicely presented. I was the first to try it, but unfortunately, neither I nor my friends enjoyed the texture or flavor.
When our waiter returned, we politely let him know that we didn’t like the dish and asked if it could be replaced or removed from the bill. He left to check, and a few minutes later, the owner approached us with a very unpleasant attitude. He said, “What’s the problem here?” and “What’s wrong with the food?” in an accusatory tone. After explaining our issue, he responded, “Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean you can return it.”
I’ve never encountered this issue at other restaurants, so I was shocked by his attitude. He eventually offered to replace the dish but said, “I’m still going to have to charge you for both dishes.” This made no sense to us, as we hadn’t even eaten the Takoyaki—only one ball was touched. Feeling we had no choice, we told him not to replace it and accepted that we’d have to pay for it.
When our ramen arrived, we were pleased with the portion size and flavor, but the experience with the owner had already dampened our mood. To make matters more confusing, midway through our meal, the staff brought us an order of calamari we hadn’t requested. The calamari was disappointing—clearly store-bought, with a breading that resembled mozzarella sticks.
Overall, while the ramen and tempura were enjoyable, the experience with the owner and the unsolicited calamari ruined the dining experience for us. I’d recommend trying their food through takeout to avoid potential unpleasantness. Dining in simply wasn’t worth...

We went for sushi, mainly because it's summer and it's a bit too warm for Ramen. We were very happy with our meal.
We ordered the fruit tea with flavor burst Boba. I had strawberry, and my husband had mango. Very refreshing and not overly sweet.
For sushi, we ordered the mango Hawaiian roll, the rainbow roll, a tuna avocado roll, and a salmon cucumber roll. Everything was delicious and was ample for 2 people to share. Nice presentation as well. We highly recommend the Mango Hawaiian roll - it is amazing!
We did decide to have dessert. My husband had the mango shaved ice, with mango Boba, red beans, and a bit of whipped cream. I had the brown sugar thai tea shaved ice, which had chocolate Boba, cream, brown sugar sauce, and cookie crumbs. Definitely save room for this dessert.
I will definitely have to try the Ramen on my next visit. The portions looked quite generous, and people seemed to enjoy their meals. The menu has a good range of choices to choose from.
There are tables and booths available. The booths are u-shaped and can accommodate a good-sized party. Although there were 2 of us, we were seated in a booth, and it was quite spacious.
It was a little busy. We were served our drinks quickly, but the waitress told us that our sushi might take a bit because of the volume in the kitchen. We were fine with that, and got to relax a bit. Our waitress did check on us while we were waiting.
I do want to compliment the staff. Our server was fantastic! She checked on us enough so that we found her to be attentive without being overbearing. She was friendly and cheerful. I noticed that all of the servers were busy and kept things moving. We did not feel rushed at all. The owner/manager stopped by the tables to check on things and was making sure people were enjoying their meals.
The restaurant is also visually appealing and well decorated. The music was not too loud, and even with lots of people, the noise level was not an issue. The place is very clean, even the restrooms.
We had a great meal, and are looking forward to going back and trying something new. Highly recommend...
Read moreStart by saying the foods great, they've got some solid meal deals between ramen and appetizers, as well as the sushi tacos. Decent value. I got the Tan Tan Ramen, good flavor not too much spice tasty broth. Good noodle chew. The sushi tacos were tasty, kinda wish they came with a bit more rice or a way to dip them in soy sauce but I'd get em again. The only problem I had was that it took being there nearly an hour and talking to management to ask where our ramen was, a number of tables seated at the same time had eaten and gone by now so I know it wasn't an issue with our orders specifically. Our waitress seemed to be actively avoiding our table, avoiding eye contact as she continued to pass by us without acknowledgement, issues getting water refills. She also didn't get us take home containers or our check, another server who noticed what was happening got them for us. Management did attempt to make it right, gave us a bubble tea to take home which was kind of them. I'd go back, I'm hoping the issues with service are more of a fluke related to them being kinda new to the area and it being a Friday night rather than the normal. Again the food is great, only issues were feeling like our server was avoiding us, I realize we were the only gay couple in the restaurant but I'd hope there wasn't any issue along...
