The good: The hotel has two very nice courtyards and a roof terrace which are very atmospheric. It's a nice setting. It had all the nice aspects that made me want to book it in the first place.||||The bad: On arrival and checking in I was told by the owner that there was a 'mix up' with my room and that while I could stay tonight, I wouldn't be able to stay for the second night of my stay. His exact words were "There is another hotel you can stay at. We don't want you to stay here tomorrow. But if you don't like the other hotel then you can stay". Having only been at the hotel for a few minutes this wasn't particularly welcoming. I then wasn't very happy and was a bit confused about what had happened. All that the staff member could say was "Don't worry". He told me that we would go look at the new hotel the next day, but I said that I wanted to go see it now (just so I could have this troublesome event sorted out) but it wasn't possible apparently. He told me that other people had booked the room. This clearly wasn't entirely true - i'd booked on booking.com a month or two in advance, and I might add at a very attractive rate. It's clear there wasn't a mix up, and they had in fact received a booking from a large tour group and were being greedy (i looked on booking.com that day and the room rates were almost double the nightly rate I had secured). Once I'd been taken to my new hotel and been checked in, I challenged this point with the staff member - he just said "OK". Not at any point did he apologise. This event left a stain on this part of my holiday. Hotel Khurjin itself looks very nice, and that was the precise reason I wanted to stay there, and made an advance reservation. I feel like the time spent choosing this hotel online was a complete waste. I feel let down. The hotel that I was taken to was adequate, but not as nice as Hotel Khurjin. I don't feel I got value for money. While I did think about rejecting Hotel Khurjin's offer of a replacement hotel, I felt completely unwelcome by that point and felt I had to leave. It left a very bad taste. From the short experience I did have, the room was nice - however the bathroom was...
Read moreThe moment we walked in we were impressed by the furnishings and layout.||Though the rooms are air-conditioned the open courtyards were hot during the day, and this was just the beginning of May, there is no common area that it is air-conditioned. Perhaps in the expansion they might have an air-conditioned lounge, maybe upstairs on the first floor.||We were welcomed with tea and fresh fruits and other local items. We could have tea any time it seems.||The rooms were well decorated but it seems twin beds are a custom in Samarkand & Bukhara, perhaps in the lower priced hotels.||Great location, just behind the old Kukuldosh Madrassa, in a narrow street, with little traffic, but just 500 ft from Lyab-i-Hauz, a centre of activity, with several restaurants, and less than 1 km from Great Minaret of the Kalon.||Hotel amenities asks about free parking - yes, on the street, but as streets are narrow, make sure your car doesn't block the passage.||Breakfast was also very good, but not a buffet. Eggs and toast provided on request.||Bathrooms could have towel rails and more clothes pegs.||We had a midnight train to Tashkent so they let us stay in the courtyard in the evening, and also provided an air-conditioned room for a while. When we later went to the station we realised that one item was missing. We requested the taxi driver to call the hotel and spoke to the staff. They found the item and the took a taxi and brought the item to us. Appreciated...
Read moreThis hotel is housed in a stunning historic building, which adds to its charm and character. The architecture and ambiance are impressive, making it a visually appealing place to stay. However, the overall experience is somewhat lacking in key areas.
The breakfast selection is average, with nothing particularly noteworthy. Service from the staff is inconsistent—while some interactions are friendly, others feel indifferent.
The room itself had an unpleasant odor upon arrival, which did not improve over time. Housekeeping services were minimal; towels were not replaced, and essential supplies like toilet paper were not replenished. Additionally, the cleanliness of the room between stays was subpar.
While the hotel’s historic setting is a major highlight, improvements in cleanliness, service, and amenities would significantly enhance the...
