I honestly feel that this hotel is not worth staying in. I spent just one night here, but the number of issues made the stay very disappointing.
I booked through a tour aggregator and confirmed directly with the hotel, but upon arrival, I was told there had been a mistake. I was offered either a room without a window or a room with a window that hadn’t been cleaned and had a broken AC — neither of which matched my booking.
I originally chose this hotel for its design, but aside from the restaurant, there was little else to appreciate. The restaurant staff were very young, more interested in their phones than assisting guests. During breakfast, they barely helped the tourists and gave the impression that they simply didn’t care.
At checkout, I asked for a registration form and was told that the system wasn’t working. I was asked to leave my email and promised I’d receive it within an hour. I didn’t. Only after I followed up did the hotel send the form — the first time with misspelled names and only later correctly.
Overall, my impression was that the staff and management simply don’t care about their guests. The restaurant might be fine to visit on its own, but for accommodation, I would definitely recommend staying...
Read moreGreat location, beautiful house / breakfast dining area, and very centrally located in the old town. However, service was lacking and was generally cold. Receptionist seemed under trained as she seemed confused as to how to deal with some of our requests (like booking a transfer to the railway). As well, in order to book an airport / railway transfer to the hotel, you have to contact them first but you cannot book it in advance. You can only book it on the day of your arrival. Thankfully we had an Uzbek SIM card because otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to arrange for a transfer at all upon arrival in Bukhara.||As for the room, it was clean and comfortable. However, WiFi was not great (quite patchy and sometimes there was no reception at all). Also there was no “do not disturb” sign available to hang on the door and no safe provided in the room (despite the website saying otherwise). With that said, one morning we left all of our valuables out and unbeknownst to us, the cleaner went in to clean as we went for breakfast. Thankfully nothing went missing however it left us feeling very wary about the security of our belongings....
Read moreLyabi House is very centrally located, very close to the Lyabi Hauz complex and within easy walking distance of the old historic part of the city. You need to pull your luggage and walk a bit from the road, to reach the hotel. It is amidst bazaar stalls selling souvenirs and there are many eateries nearby. The hotel is a traditional Bukhara house decorated with artefacts. The inner courtyard is beautiful and the restaurant on the elevated porch is very elegant. Extremely ornate decorations. The breakfast buffet is ordinary, nothing special but sumptuous. There are hardly any snack options available at other times of the day. The a la carte menu is gourmet. |The upper floor rooms opening onto the inner courtyard are better. We had a ground floor room with street view, and had to keep the windows closed. Our bathroom had the smell of sewage coming in from the street. They give only one coffee and one tea sachet in the room. So if the second person also wants coffee, you need to buy it from the cafe. The staff at the reception were slightly inexperienced and hence not very helpful.|The location is it’s...
