Just steps away from the carpet bazaar, Zolotaya Buhara offers a refined dining experience with a thick, comprehensive menu available in both Russian and English (conveniently provided as a PDF). The staff is sort of awkward, but attentive, eager to please, and clearly takes pride in showcasing what the restaurant has to offer.
The chicken soup made for a satisfying starter — flavorful and visually appealing, with tender vegetables, miniature peeled potatoes, vibrant tomato chunks, and bits of bell pepper adding both color and texture.
The manti arrived three to a serving, with a choice of fried or steamed. At the server’s suggestion, I opted for the steamed version. They were tasty and well-seasoned, though delicate to the point of collapsing with a single bite, spilling their filling onto the plate. The filling was interesting, with bits of fat and gristle intermingled with lean meat.
For the main course, I tried two types of skewers — chicken leg and lamb. Both were fine but not particularly memorable. The lamb was overly fatty and a bit tough, while the chicken leg was simple and unremarkable. That said, at 29,000 UZS for the chicken and 39,000 UZS for the lamb, I considered it a sunk cost for the experience. Order at your own risk.
Nonetheless, a fairly good restaurant located in the center of town with strong AC and an illustrated menu and polite service,...
Read moreSaw great reviews our experience was not good, we are from Canada, first day in Bukhara, came for dinner at 8 pm, waiter spoke English reasonably, suggested pilov we ordered pilov, 5 minutes later he came back and said pilov is finished, how? , ordered beef sashlik and chicken sashlik, menu in English says boneless chicken but waiter told us it will be with bone, ok we ordered it, please update your menu, ordered jug of traditional Ayran, what they gave us was carbonated Ayran, i don’t like it at all, waiter insisted it is traditional, no it is not , I know what Ayran is, we ordered Lavash bread with chicken and beef sashlik and I think waiter forgot to order, as they don’t use any order pads or any other system to write your order, I finished my first skewer and asked waiter where is my lavash bread, oh they are making it and will take 5 more minutes, you don’t eat bread after your meat but you eat with your meal, so I had no choice but to get their classic hard bread, not happy at all. The beef skewers were hard, like chewing gum, I paid way less at other places and had better beef sashliks, yes they have great location right in tourist area, they have nice decor but they don’t know how to run good restaurant business, not a single apology for all the mistakes they made, prices are tourist grab prices, eat somewhere else...
Read moreWe had a long walking day and got hungry by the time we reached Zolotaya Buhara Restaurant. It looked very beautiful from outside and impressive inside, so we went in without hesitation. We were more impressed when we entered and were warmly welcomed by the staff. We made the order and started looking around. They have good clean WC too. We ordered 2 salads, 5 soups, 2 pots of tea, 1 set of manty (fried-boiled huge ravioli), 1set of beef vaguri, 1set of jiz, rice and fried potatoes with mushrooms. We all enjoyed our main meals, they were all delicious. However the ajapsandal salad (fried vegetables) was too cold, actually eggplant was frozen…and seemed like it was in the fridge and wasn’t heated well enough… and the jiz was with too much fat. The beef one was yummy, the best! Then comes manty. They have just opened 2months and there is no service fee. The waiter was helpful and efficient. They should add salad tongs as it was difficult to get salads with spoon )) And waiter should put salads in our plates himself, because he poured the yea to each of us. I mean it was easier to pour the tea in the cup for us rather then getting salad in the plates ) The total price for the above was 48usd for 5 of us, reasonable enough I would say. Overall, if you are hungry and in this area, this is the right...
