AFRASIAB RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Bukhara City

We came here for a nice family dinner, having looked at positive feedback from previous customers. The owner of the restaurant welcomed us in a friendly manner, saying it just opened 2 weeks ago, he had us seated. Then strange experience begun : very little choice from the short menu. However we were advised some other dishes were available, not listed in the menu. We ordered pilaf and a fried beef outside the menu. Pilaf arrived after 20 mn, was OK. The meat arrived after 1hr (we had to ask several times) and was overcooked - forgotten in the pan ?. Whilst we were trying the chew the meat, the waiter was filming us from his phone without asking permission (and so he did with the other Customers). Surprise still coming along with the bill: the tea we did not ask for was charged, one bottle of water was 20,000 sums, the dish not in the menu was (very) approximatively priced… This restaurant is a scam - find...

Avoid this place by all means. No vegetarian food here! Don't be fooled! Dishes named vegan aren't even vegetarian. For the "vegan" plov they just remove meat, but it's still cooked on animal fat and you can clearly see meat remains on photo in our dish. Same for lagman, the bouillon has a clear meat taste even if there isn't meat in the dish itself. When we pointed that out to the owner he didn't even apologize. He didn't care at all. Not mentioning we paid more than expected - we ended up with nausea because our bodies haven't experienced animal fat for a long time. In addition workers started flushing the floor with a hose, nearly flooding out shoes.

I came here just because the restaurant I was planning to go to was closed. This was the most expensive and the worst dining experience during my 2 months of travelling in Central Asia. They serve you bread and water without asking and then charge you for it (it was the first time I was charged for bread in CA). The food took very long time to arrive. Eggplant salad was very good but chicken sashlyk was mediocre. They also gave me completely dirty cutlery with dried up food stains on it. In the end they charge additional 18% for service which isn’t mentioned anywhere...
