From the moment I booked Hotel Bankir Khiva, I received nothing but support from the team. Tim reached out almost immediately and was able to arrange a transfer and SIM cards for us. At any stage if I had any questions whether they were about Khiva or whether about Uzbekistan as a whole, Tim was responsive and was able to resolve my queries. I reached out to the hotel at one stage because my flight had been delayed by 24 hours. Tim was so supportive and helped guide us to a suitable resolution. ||||I travelled with my husband and two teenage sons for our four city tour of Uzbekistan, starting with Khiva. We had no issues with the transport which collected us from Urgench airport despite being delayed by our luggage. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately taken by the outstanding architecture. The design is a mix of traditional and modern. It is clear that the hotel is new and is looked after well. ||||We had booked a family room. We were shown the family room as well as options for connecting rooms and we chose the connecting rooms. The bed is probably even more comfortable than my own bed at home!! Both rooms were spacious, clean and modern. Air conditioning works well even with almost 40degree temperatures outside! We had access to a minibar and tea/coffee making facilities. There is also a room service facility. There are water fountains at various spots to fill up with as much water as you need. ||||I accessed breakfast on all three days of our stay. Although a limited menu, juices were freshly pressed and all other items were fresh and of a good standard. I particularly enjoyed the cottage cheese filled cake! On our very first day, our waiter Shahzad brought all the different juices out for us to try. He was keen to find something that we would enjoy. Shahzad is someone to whom the customer experience is paramount. He had attention to detail, he was constantly making sure we were happy. He is an absolute gem and an absolute asset to the team. He constantly went above and beyond and we were grateful to have met him. If I was to say that the hotel needed to improve on anything, perhaps the options for breakfast for teenagers who prefer some ‘naughty’ snacks like crepes and chocolate sauce. ||||The hotel is 5-10 minutes from the main sites. A feeling of being ‘safe’ and as part of a family. All the staff want to make your experience memorable, they go out of their way to make sure that you are comfortable. Read moreCame across this hotel as a recommendation from the media. Looks very new as they have just opened for business not too long ago. Arrived on a car, there are basically 2 roads that can access the hotel but 1 was under some construction works so had to detour to get to the hotel. Thought the roads were quite narrow and not easy for tour buses to access but apparently was told tour buses have made their way to the entrance of the hotel. Location was very good, very well located and close to the main sites of the old city. Am very impressed with the service of the staff there, they are always in big smiles greeting people and are always friendly to chat with. I have to say kudos to Tim and his team. Room was simple and elegant. I loved how bright and spick and span it was. The bed was super comfortable that one can just lie down and fall asleep within minutes. They have a wonderful rooftop got good views I spent a short while at night enjoying the lighting of the Old City and the cool breeze. Breakfast was a decent variety of items and was well prepared and enjoyable. All in all, had a great time staying although was just for a night but was a place I really had warm hospitality in Uzbekistan. For me this place is definitely more like a 4.5 than a 4 for...
