Hanoi Emotion Hotel — Hotel in Hà Nội

My family and I came here with a tour. After a long day of traveling on a rainy and cold day all we wanted to do was take a shower and freshen up to explore the city with our tour group on our one night here. The room was just in fair condition. When we went to use the shower there was not any hot water. We called the front desk to send someone up to help with the water. He was very unfriendly and boarderline condescending telling us that the hot water isn’t working because we aren’t turning on the shower correctly. We tried explaining that we let the water run already and tried everything before we resorted to calling for help. They had us wait for over an hour and made us miss going with our group and ended up having us packed and move to a new room that only had two twin beds for three people and also did not have any hot water. I don’t know how they wanted us to have three people sleep on two twin beds but that accommodation was not going to work either. At this point an hour and a half had been wasted and they said they would send someone to help us move back to our original room. It turns out the entire hotels hot water wasn’t working and they said they would have it solved in the morning. When the man came up he had an attitude and asked why we were moving rooms. It was not any of his business but we ended up telling him about the hot water situation. With an attitude again he says we have hot water 24 hours (implying what we were lying or making excuses) already being upset over the whole situation we tell him ok turn on the shower and try. He goes in and sticks his hand under the shower head and says well it’s kind of warm. So we just reply with well kinda warm and hot are two different things. It was raining all day and we were damp and cold a Luke warm shower wasn’t going to cut it. He replies with well I can shower with this water temperature. We didn’t ask for an opinion and it’s not his job to tell us what’s good for us. He was supposed to help with pur bags to move rooms and he ended up shoving our bags towards us so we moved them down our selves. I’ve never been treated so rudely as a guest somewhere. Sadly upon checking in they didn't tell me there would be works going on in the hotel. I have spent a few days unwell but from early morning breakfast time on each of these days there's been banging and drilling.

I get that work needs to be done but later in the day would have been nicer, and nicest still would have been telling me this was going to happen so I could book in elsewhere. Difficult to deal with a migraine when you first wake up when there's drilling going on right next to you. On one day this was particularly awful. Reception have been wrong about the time it will stop again and again. The whole room vibrates. I've barely been able to work.

When I checked in the receptionist tried to charge me 125k per day for breakfast too, despite the booking.com page saying it was 50k a day. He let me pay the cheaper price but that was bizarre.

Hotel restaurant is also only open for breakfast, despite signs in the hotel and only saying otherwise. Which worked out ok as nearby there's some lovely food.

The rooms are nice and the bathrooms have enough space to move in, with a bathtub which is great. The cleaning staff are also nice.

I really cannot recommend this hotel, despite Dong Da being a nice area with good people and good food nearby. I don't feel I can trust this hotel at all having mixed messages multiple times during my stay about many...

Summary: Rooms are clean and spacious. Helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Pros: Room is clean and very spacious including the bathroom. Staff is helpful to requests. Breakfast area is clean and neat and the food was very fresh. In a quiet area to help with a good night's sleep. They have a machine in the lobby to help clean your shoes for if it rains etc.

Cons: AC is weak. Had to get a fan from the front desk to cool the room. Bathtub was hard to get into because of it being a bit too high. Could be a hazard for the elderly or not too mobile travelers. Water in the bathroom smelled weird. Bathroom exhaust wasn't properly working and made it smell musty. Bit far from food or...
