Essencia Spa — Local services in Hà Nội

While this place looked good on the map when I was searching for a space, it was immediate realization that it was the wrong choice when encountering reception in the lobby - both the guy at the hotel reception desk and the girls specifically for spa have unpleasant demeanour. Look bored, low energy, don’t smile, speak in harsh tones, clearly do not know how to create an inviting and welcoming experience.

I pretty much just continued and overlooked their unpleasant interaction as I was already there and just wanted the massage. They take payment before the treatment is done and they do not know how to talk in the way that is inviting, kind, and puts you at ease.

Felt oddly rushed and they don’t even offer you tea or to sit for a bit beforehand. Really not a fan that this spa is located in the basement, either. Somehow felt like this place was under construction or something just felt haphazard and lacking the intentionality of a good spa experience. They don’t do foot bath either before the massage which a lot of other places do and the price isn’t even as high as here.

Large, clean treatment rooms with shower and toilet (behind a curtain), surprisingly quiet due to double-glazed windows, otherwise it would be rather noisy due to the people and motor traffic outside. Receptionists 'Suzy' and 'Lily' were both welcoming and friendly, and my assigned therapist Ms Tam was competent. I asked for a 90 min massage (in the Romance package, minus the footbath) and perhaps that was a bit too long for her as she seemed tired out at the end. Nonetheless, it was a good spa experience. I had 2 massages at Essencia Spawhilst staying at Aira Hotel in Hanoi. Both were fantastic. I had a healing therapy massage with Tam who was divine after 2 days of travelling. I felt myself drifting off to sleep and all my aches and pains from the multiple planes eased away. Today I had the foot restore with Lan who was also brilliant.
