Le Grand Hanoi Hotel - The Central Park — Hotel in Hà Nội

Please avoid this hotel!!! especially when you do check in late at night. It was very terrible experience we had here.

Booked 2 room 1 night in this hotel. We came early before check in time, the receptionist offered for early check in but we need to pay 100k dong / room. we agreed to check in for only 1 room so we could keep our belonging safely in the room. The other room we would check in after we done strolling around the city in the night. When we came in the night, the receptionist didn't give us a key instead he showed us room in the basement, with sliding door and toilet outside. We told him It was not a room that we booked. He said room upstairs was sold out. But how come!! We had already booked online before doing the trip. He said we need to wait 30 minutes for the room to be ready. As we waited we saw couple from outside came and checked in. 30 minutes past, the room still wasnt ready. we insisted that we need room at that time, then we argued with the manager through phone, she said we need to wait for 15 minutes. Then suddenly the couple came from upstairs and check out. That time we thought that this hotel could be rent for hours and provided place for one night stand couple. Don’t stay here. All the bad reviews are true. It is a cheap imitation of Le Grande and they double book rooms if you arrive at night. I booked a city view. I arrived at night. My room had been given to someone else. They pawned off a crappy room with a view of the lobby. The glass wasn’t one way, so everyone in the lobby could see in, so I might as well not had had a window at all. The night I arrived I phoned Agoda after the management refused to do anything, was disconnected, phoned back and the Agoda representative couldn’t find my booking for several minutes, saying it didn’t exist. After leaving me on hold the Agoda representative eventually let me know they couldn’t reach the hotel management and would update me in 24 hours. About 2 weeks later after a generic email everyday saying they can’t reach the hotel, I got a generic message saying the hotel refuses to do anything and Agoda is only willing to give me $5 off my next booking if used on certain hotels in 6 months. Agoda’s customer care, customer support and refusal to hold the hotel...

I can't speak to all the really poor reviews for this place (perhaps some management issues at the time?) but they have been extremely accommodating for us. We had to push our booking out by 2 days on the day we were supposed to arrive and they just switched it, no worries. The room is a really good size, shower is lovely and hot, and the bed is king sized and comfortable. Couldn't ask for more. Yes, you do get some noise from the corridor from time to time during the day and there's not a heap of natural light, but for the price, I'm OK with that. We'll be staying twice more now before we leave Vietnam. I'd give them a...
