Myrcella is one of the best find in my many travels
... it has all the mandatory requirements of a small boutique hotel, and much more : strategic location, clean, pleasant staff, brand new, modern, great TV channels, huge refrigerator, washing/drying machines, plates/cutleries and surrounded by a charming local neighborhood, with great coffee and cuisine.
I'm very critical as you can observe from my past reviews, but I do give credit where credit is due. Myrcella is tucked away some 15 mins by Grab car from the madding crowd ( Old Quarters ) ... it is tranquil, believable and you can see how locals actually live, minus the high price. You won't find too much review of this place because every traveler flocks like sheep to the Old Quarters area, where almost everything is over-hyped and over-killed by enthusiastic social media postings/nonsense. NO such thing over here.
Myrcella is located just one parallel road from a row of good massage spas (like Fuji Spa) and many Japanese restaurants/bar. Hair stylist shops opens as early as 8am and a delightful local traditional market wakes up earlier, to cater to local needs. You can pick up your modern coffee fix nearby at La Bonte, Cho or Home Ground Coffee, all of which are operated by sleek coffee savvy young owners.
Local cuisine is aplenty nearby at the classic Hue's Restaurant, amazing 4Ps pizza at Lotte mall, elegant Vietnamese fusion cuisine at Senté : The flavor of Lotus (The Metro branch), great bhan mi at nearby Bami King and the best Pho (is just across the road directly opposite of Bami). I will not detail down all locations for you have to be a bit resourceful with your google. I guarantee you will have excellent food, and an authentic experience, minus hoards of tourist flooding the streets.
I was at first sceptical because getting in touch via email/telephone to reconfirm my stay at Myrcella was a challenge. Thus I have posted their details with this review so you can reach them by WhatsApp. Lucky for us the place was every bit like its photos, so we stayed a total of 12 Nights collectively.
Myrcella is worth every penny because the personnel are such wonderful people ( especially Mr. Dung and Ah Lan ) and the place is just superb for the humble price they charge. One must be expecting far too much or unreasonable if you have any complaint after staying at this place. For me this will be my go-to studio whenever I visit charming Hanoi.
Cam On to you all Mr. Dung and...

Read moreUpdate 17/6/25. This place is still spotless and faultless. Except there is this karaoke joint a neighbor from hell. Shouting and screaming and music goes into wee hours..last night the mayhem ended at 230am!!! So be warned.
This place deserves all the good reviews. It's located in a busy area, many eateries, Lotte is walking distance, bus 90 goes to the airport is right on the main road. Rooms are super clean, toilet has bidet and bathtub. Every room had floor to ceiling windows with great view of sunrise or sunset depending on which side you are on. Rooms have washer and dryer and pantry and kitchenette. Even if you take the smaller rooms without laundry and drinking water is free. Staff are kind and wonderful especially the young man from the university of...
