I am currently on my 7th month of a year trip and I have spent the majority of the time here. I have not had any trouble accommodating into the homestay. I want to make it very clear that this is a home and not a hotel. Many foreign guests, during the course of my stay, have confused it as such. The owner is a very good person and has been since the first day I have arrived. He is very understanding and hardworking in maintaining his home. The feeling of a home is truly present here and I wouldn't trade my stay here for a hotel. The price for this location, for the surrounding area and for the accomodations is more than reasonable. Privacy is given and one can rest assured that it is respected. My stay here has given me the purest understanding of the "daily life" in Vietnam. I am saddened to witness at times the trouble caused by some guests when they believe it is okay to behave in a rude and disturbing manner with the lack of respect for the owner and his home. I don't see myself wanting to move elsewhere for the reason of comfort. I do suggest for those who are passerbys, to give it a try. Stay a night or two and do your best to be patient in communication. Don't be quick to argue when it is senseless, nothing will be resolved. Remember, this is a homestay, not a hotel. If you are looking for a hotel, then go look elsewhere. The owner does more than his best to maintain his home. He has a beautiful home that he has continuously developed over the years with the most fascinating stairwell that I have had and continue to have the pleasure of using.
This should have been my second review but as time went on I was unable to do so. I will have follow up reviews as time gets closer to my departure but I feel it is unnecessary for me. I may leave a final review upon my leave.
Don't believe me? Stay a night and check it out. If it's not what you are looking for, there are hotels...
Read moreWe were supposed to stay here for 5 nights but we could only handle being there for one night and had to find new accommodations. When we arrived around 4pm the gate was closed and we had to reach through the bars to get the lock open and we're greeted by a dark and cluttered house with nobody around and had to just hope someone would come down for us, he did but he was not very welcoming and seemed like we had woken him up from a nap. The room was not clean at all, there was a lot of long black hair and crums all over the bed, pillows, sheets, and floor (I am very blonde and my bf has a buzz cut) so it was clear it had not been cleaned since the last guest. The bed was hard as rocks with no real blanket (we soon found out why) after about 1 hour the air conditioning stopped working entirely and was only blowing hot air into the room making the room hotter than even outside. It was absolutely unbearable and I had to take a cold shower in the middle of the night to get any relief. We woke up with sore backs and bones because the bed had about as much support as the floor. The guy was not easily accessible to ask about the air, nor does he speak very much english, so we found a new hotel for two nights in hopes we would come back and the air would be working again, it was not so we got our stuff and went to another hotel. We didn’t get any refund on this stay so we ended up paying another $150 on the new accommodations. i would recommend just paying her a better place and not wasting time and money here. Maybe in the colder months it would be better but that wouldn’t fix the...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. THIS PROPERTY IS A COMPLETE SCAM.
I arrived at the homestay around 10 AM. Since check-in wasn’t until 2 PM, I dropped my bag and went out to explore. When I returned to check in, I was suddenly told there were no rooms left and that they were fully booked.
I showed my confirmed reservation but the rude older man running the place, (likely the owner) insisted my room had already been given away. His excuses were all over the place. First, he claimed “many people don’t show up,” which made zero sense considering I had literally left my bag there earlier that morning. Then he said it was because I hadn’t paid yet, even though I had submitted my credit card details and the confirmation clearly stated I would be charged for a no-show or cancellation.
He kept insisting that I cancel the booking so he wouldn’t have to do it on his end but cancelling it myself meant I would still be charged, so I told him to cancel it from his side instead.
Rather than honouring my reservation, he tried to push me into booking a more expensive two-bedroom room that had “just become available.” When I questioned how this was acceptable, he became dismissive, switched off the lights, and was practically closing the door on me.
To make matters worse, the property is extremely hard to find, poorly signposted and tucked deep inside an alleyway.
This entire experience was a complete waste of time and energy. The behaviour was unprofessional, rude, and blatantly dishonest.
Save yourself the trouble and avoid this property entirely. There are far better...
